Chapter 14 The Furious Yellow–Furred Weasel!
Clang!
A dagger collided with Alden’s Thunderstorm Bow, sparks flying everywhere.
“You again?”
Alden frowned. It was the same assassin who had tried to steal his boss earlier.
The assassin’s name was hidden, but his appearance wasn’t so easy to disguise.
The assassin didn’t respond. Instead, he flipped his dagger with a smooth 180–degree spin and lunged again.
Alden leaned back, quickly equipping his Black Iron Treant Set.
His defenses and health points surged noticeably when he put it on.
At the same time, he rolled to the side, dodging the assassin’s strike.
But just as he avoided the attack, Alden felt a sense of unease.
The assassin had vanished.
It wasn’t stealth–Alden could still feel him lingering behind him.
Without hesitation, he turned around.
Yet there was nothing there.

If someone else were watching, they’d notice the assassin was still behind Alden–just perfectly positioned in his blind spot.
Making Alden can’t see him.
“Shadowstep?”
Alden’s expression darkened.
Shadowstep wasn’t a skill; it was a technique.
The trick was to move strategically, always staying in the opponent’s blind spot, like a shadow. Hence the name.
Hearing Alden call out his technique, the assassin paused briefly in surprise.
But that moment was all Alden needed.
Whoosh!
An arrow whistled through the air. Alden didn’t turn his body. Instead, he drew his bow with his leg and fired backward.
This assassin possesses combat techniques, and Alden, as a reborn individual, also has his own unique battle techniques.
His maneuver was outrageous. Coupled with the assassin’s momentary surprise, a single lapse in attention led to them being

struck by his arrow.

The assassin dropped dead in an instant, killed by a single arrow. Unfortunately, no equipment dropped from him this time.
“Looks like he’s set his sights on me,” Alden muttered.
He had thought the earlier incident was just a minor scuffle.
But today, the assassin had come straight for him without a word, attempting a sneak attack.
In the revival altar of Rookie Village.
Shadowrend looked grim. “Fast reflexes, high damage, solid combat skills, and he even knows about Shadowstep.
“Frost King, whoever you are, you’ve killed me twice. One day, I’ll get my revenge.”
If Alden could hear this, he’d probably curse him out.
The first time, Shadowrend had tried to steal his boss.
This time, Shadowrend was the one who struck first.
But Alden didn’t know or care about that now.
He had found the Minstrel in Rookie Village.
The Minstrel was dressed impeccably, though his little mustache gave him a comical look.
The Minstrel: Level 15.
Health Point: ???
Attack: ???
Skills: ???
Note: A minstrel who roams near Rookie Village. Perhaps you can uncover unexpected benefits from him.
This note had misled many players into thinking the Minstrel offered quests or valuable items.
But neither was true,
The Minstrel was actually an intelligent, humanoid boss–Black Iron Level.
His skills were bizarre, though, making him notoriously tricky to deal with.
Back in his previous life, it had taken thousands of players working together to take him down.
This time, Alden wanted to relive some of his old tactics by fighting the Mistrel solo.
As he had said to Skyspire Shield earlier.

Kiting is just the basics for archers.

When he used the Thunderstorm Bow to block the assassin’s attack earlier, that had been a simple display of technique.
Hiding behind a large tree, Alden drew his bow.
As the energy arrow materialized, he twisted the bowstring into a taut, spiral shape.
Interestingly, Alden wasn’t aiming at the Minstrel but to the left of him.
Whoosh!
The arrow flew.
Not far away, Shadowrend–who had been hiding in stealth–frowned. He had figured Alden was hunting the Mistrel, but the arrow’s trajectory didn’t make sense.
Then something happened that left Shadowrend completely stunned.
Alden’s arrow, shot into the air, actually curved mid–flight and precisely struck the Mistrel standing in the distance.

A massive damage number appeared, and the Minstrel, struck by the sudden attack, was momentarily stunned. This was because Alden was behind a large tree and had never exposed his position.
This was one of the advanced archery techniques. Twisting Arrow Techniques.
By spinning the bowstring, the arrow was launched with a rotational force.
When executed perfectly, the arrow could change its trajectory in midair.
Also, the spinning arrow delivered immense penetration damage, resulting in even greater overall damage.
Whoosh!
Another arrow flew.
“Found you,” the Minstrel growled.
Though he hadn’t seen Alden, he could now pinpoint the arrow’s origin.
He leaped into the air, lunging toward Alden’s location.
Whoosh!
The arrow hit him while he was still in midair.
The force from the Twisted Arrow Technique sent the Mistrel flying back over 3 feet.
Then came the second arrow, followed by a third.
One after another, the arrows hit with tremendous force.

What happened next left Shadowrend completely dumbfounded.
The Minstrel, midair, couldn’t fall back to the ground.

Just as the Minstrel had started to descend, Alden shot again, breaking that momentum and pushing him further back.
Moreover, the shot was incredibly precise, pushing the Minstrel upward a bit as well while being sent flying.
“Wha…”
Shadowrend, a killer known for his calm demeanor, was utterly stunned by Alden’s technique, speechless at this insane move.
But his battle experience quickly reminded him that pulling off something like this was ridiculously difficult–extremely difficult!
When Alden hit the Minstrel with the first arrow, he already had to anticipate where the third arrow would land.
Without that, this continuous knockback wouldn’t be possible.
And in Twilight of the Gods, when an opponent is knocked back, they take additional combo damage.
Normally, only warrior–type classes have skills that can knock opponents back, chaining those skills into combos for extra damage.
But here, Alden, an archer, had just pulled off an outrageous combo with his arrows.
“ROAR!”
With a roar, the Minstrel’s body rapidly expanded. His form transformed from that of a mere Minstrel into a hulking beast, standing over 10 feet tall, covered in brown fur.
At the same time, his status screen shifted.
