hapter 33 Extorting the Village Keeper
Alden didn’t overthink it and chose the Nightmare difficulty.
In less than 20 minutes, he cleared the Nightmare–level of The Lost Princess dungeon.
But the Icenfire Ore did not appear.
Was I wrong all along? Is there just one Icenfire Ore here?
Alden thought to himself.
No.
Old Barrel wouldn’t lie to me about this.
Could there be two hidden dungeons in this mine?
The chances are pretty slim.
If it’s not two hidden dungeons, then there’s another possibility.
Drop rate!
The ore could still be here–the drop rate was probably just too low for him to get it on his first hard run.
With this in mind, Alden re–entered The Lost Princess dungeon.
The battles he had coming up were going to be tough.
Even if he didn’t find the last piece, he could at least farm some HP.
This farming went on for five runs in a row.
It turned out that Alden’s guess was correct.
On his fifth run, he finally saw it in his rewards.
Ding! “You have obtained Icenfire Ore +1,”
Alden smiled with satisfaction.
Now that he had all three pieces of Icenfire Ore in Rookie Village, opening the seal was up to him.
Also, because of repeatedly running The Lost Princess dungeon, Alden’s HP had now exceeded 120,000.
With the Ninefold Longbow, his combat ability had also greatly improved.
After leaving the mine, Alden didn’t go to find Old Barrel or Roland.
He went straight to the cliff.
As Alden expected, the Village Keeper was still there.

Chapter 33 Extorting the Village Keeper
He must’ve known the fight would happen here, so he was guarding it himself.
“Frost King, why are you here again?”
Alden didn’t answer. He simply took out an Icenfire Ore.
The Village Keeper’s calm face suddenly changed when he saw the ore.
He smiled at Alden. “Frost King, you found the Icenfire Ore. That’s wonderful.”
“Village Keeper, what exactly is this Icenfire Ore? Both you and Roland are after it.”

The Village Keeper smiled. “It’s a very important ore, extremely useful for both of us. Frost King, give it to me, and I’ll give you a reward you never expected.”
Alden narrowed his eyes. This unexpected reward made him hesitate.
“Be specific.”
Alden stared at the Village Keeper.
The Village Keeper’s face darkened. He could tell Alden wanted to bargain.
“A Gold Level ring.”
Alden shook his head.
“I heard Roland offered a Platinum Level necklace.”
The Village Keeper’s face darkened. “He’s a blacksmith. I can’t match him when it comes to equipment. I can give you a Saint–Level Talent Awakening Stone. It can awaken almost any talent.”
Alden thought for a moment. He couldn’t use the awakening stone, but Finley and Monkey both had Saint–Level talents.
Giving it to them would let them awaken their talents and become stronger sooner.
“Not enough. Two stones.”
Alden had the upper hand now, so he wasn’t going to give in.
“Frost King, I only have one. And this is the best item you can get in Rookie Village.”
Alden didn’t acknowledge this. “Then I want two Gold Level rings.”
The Village Keeper’s face darkened again.
Alden’s price was starting to anger him.
“Frost King, if Roland gets the Icenfire Ore, Rookie Village will be destroyed, and it will be a disaster for all you adventurers.
“I am willing to pay a price to stop this disaster.”
Alden sighed. “Village Keeper, I want to help you, but I’m an adventurer. All I care about is a profit.

“Sorry.”
With that, Alden turned to leave.
“Stop!”
The Village Keeper’s eyes turned cold, and killing intent burst from him.
“What? Village Keeper, you want to kill me?
“Go on, then. I don’t care if I drop a level.”
Hearing this, the Village Keeper’s killing intent faded.
Yes, Alden was an adventurer.
Even if he killed him, Alden would only lose a level.
Once he returned to Rookie Village, he could still give the Icenfire Ore to Roland.
“Fine. I agree to your demands.”
Alden grinned happily as he completed the deal with the Village Keeper.
Thunder Ring: Gold Level.
Wearing requirement: Level 10, Archer.
Effect 1: Attack +350.
Effect 2: Crit Rate +30%.
Effect 3: Armor Penetration +15%.
Effect 4: 5% chance to paralyze the target.
Effect 5: 5% chance to deal double critical hit damage.
Effect 6: 5% chance to trigger an area lightning bombardment.
Durability: 100.
Two rings.
Same stats.
Alden frowned slightly. There were three special effects among the attributes, but they were quite low.
Luckily, both rings had the same attributes, letting Alden deal a significant amount of damage.
After swapping out two rings from the Treant Set, his HP recovery dropped by 20 points, and his HP went down by more than 1,000.
