Game Over Not Over for Me novel Chapter 53

Chapter 53 Betting Everything on Alden

“Do you remember the deal we made? I just returned, and honestly, I have nothing to show for it yet. If I want to gain the support of the ministers and nobles, I need to accomplish something truly significant,” Princess Leona said, her voice steady but filled with urgency.

Alden leaned forward, his eyes sharp. “Then don’t hold back. Tell me what you want.”

Leona’s expression grew serious, the playful light in her eyes fading. “There’s a mountain range in Astralon called the Darkwind Mountains. Within it lies a bandit stronghold—Darkwind Fort. The people there are ruthless, pure evil. I want you to wipe them out. Completely.”

A sudden chime echoed in Alden’s ears. “Princess Leona has assigned you a quest.

Quest objective: Destroy Darkwind Fort

Quest penalty: Unknown

Quest reward: Unknown.”

He raised an eyebrow thoughtfully. “Darkwind Fort is in a level 30 zone.”

Leona nodded confidently. “With your strength, you should be more than capable of handling it.”

Alden shook his head slowly, a shadow of doubt crossing his face.

Leona’s eyes narrowed. “Is something wrong?”

“Yeah,” Alden replied bluntly. “Taking down a level 30 fort? That’s small fry. No one’s going to see that as a major accomplishment. At best, they’ll think you’re just trying to show off.”

Her face darkened at his words, disappointment flickering across her features.

“I know that,” she admitted quietly. “But given your current situation, destroying Darkwind Fort is already pushing the limits.”

A spark ignited in Alden’s eyes. “Who said that’s my limit? What if I told you I could kill Grayson—the sealed son of the Demon King?”

Leona’s voice cracked with disbelief. “That’s impossible! Grayson is still sealed. How could anyone kill him without breaking the seal? No one would ever allow that.”

A faint smile curved Alden’s lips. “True, the seal is still intact, but I know it’s already cracked. There’s a group of Nightwalkers lurking near the Demon Cave, waiting for the right moment to break him free.”

Leona’s eyes sharpened, and her tone dropped to a whisper. “How do you know all this?”

“Does it really matter?” Alden shrugged casually.

Leona inhaled deeply, trying to steady herself. “So you’re saying you can kill Grayson without breaking the seal? Is that really possible?”

“It is,” Alden confirmed. “You could go back to the king and ministers right now and tell them I’m capable of it.”

Leona’s voice rose, edged with frustration and fear. “Don’t try to get me killed! This sounds insane. If it were possible, Astralon would have done it long ago.”

Alden’s tone was flat, almost indifferent. “I’m an adventurer. What would I gain by hurting you? If you don’t believe me, then forget it.”

He didn’t seem bothered by her doubt. If she didn’t trust him, he could always back another princess.

“I believe you,” she said after a brief pause.

Her hesitation vanished quickly, replaced by a steely determination.

“Frost King, you’re not like other adventurers. I trust your strength. I’ll return and tell my parents, the ministers, and the nobles.”

A satisfied grin tugged at Alden’s mouth. “You just made the right choice.”

Leona’s breath hitched. Somehow, she felt that if she had doubted him again, the throne might have slipped from her grasp forever.

After their farewell, Alden decided to focus on leveling up first. Every point he could reduce from his PK Points was worth the effort.

“Leona, as royals, we must measure our words and our strength carefully. If you make such a claim, have you considered what happens if you fail?”

Leona took a slow, steady breath. She had expected this reaction even before arriving.

But she had staked everything on Alden.

“Father, Mother, if I say I can do this, it means I truly believe I can.”

Her words barely left her lips when Veyla stepped forward, her smile sharp and cruel. “And if you can’t? What then?”

Abraxis’s gaze grew cold and piercing. “Indeed. There must be consequences. Otherwise, anyone could step forward and spout nonsense. What would become of our royal dignity?”

Leona clenched her jaw tightly. The bowstring was drawn; there was no turning back now.

“If I fail, I will withdraw from the competition for the throne.”

She had to make that promise. Without it, they would never let her off the hook.

Veyla’s smile widened with satisfaction—one less rival suited her perfectly.

As for Leona’s claim, Veyla believed it was impossible to kill Grayson without breaking the seal.

If it were possible, Grayson would already be dead.

The court was filled with smug faces, all secretly pleased. Fewer contenders meant it would be easier to pick sides.

But King Abraxis was different.

His thoughts mirrored Veyla’s on the surface, but his mind delved deeper.

If Leona had no confidence, would she risk her candidacy like this? He doubted it. He suspected she held a hidden advantage.

“Very well, Leona,” he said finally. “I look forward to the day you kill Grayson. If you succeed, the Astralon Chamber of Commerce will be yours to control.”
