Genetic Ascension novel Chapter 1883

Chapter 1883: Plan? (1)

Maybe even Maldrith could have never expected what Sylas' choice would be right now. Sylas had already said that they would never guess what his intentions were. Yet, somehow, after being exposed for his movements, it would now be even more unlikely.

Anyone who knew what happened in the current situation was also aware that Sylas had come out heavily injured.

He had lost an arm, a large portion of his inner organs, and his Will itself had suffered severe suppression at the hands of an entire world. These weren't the sort of things that could just be brushed off.

Granted, Sylas had a Legend by his side and the help of the Weaver Guild. While no one thought that he would die from such injuries, without an exceptionally skilled healer, it would take him weeks to be back to full health.

The wonderful news was that the Weaver Guild had the Laraft Race, a Race with a heavily skewed female population who had skin that bordered on a natural gold and hair that glimmered like white-gold octopi.

They were a partially odd Race, but also well known for their beauty nonetheless, despite having many unconventional features compared to many other Humanoid Races. This was especially so since many of them had orbs of brass for eyes eerily similar to a assured Angel Race.

However, even the Laraft would need some time to help Sylas. Not all injuries could be healed instantly, at least not without using a treasure beyond the Mortal Realm.

That was exactly why no one would expect that Sylas would appear right at the core of Emperor Sanctum territory, in the heart of a place that... wasn't quite yet a territory at all.

Those people were probably right to think that Sylas wouldn't appear. In fact, they had no way to prove that his original intention was making it to the Emperor Sanctum in the first place.

At the moment, the best speculation was that Sylas wanted to learn from another Progenitor, unaware of the relationship that Maldrith had with the Emperor Sanctum. Or maybe he had thought that since Maldrith had had a falling out with the Emperor Sanctum, they would be two kindred spirits.

Of course, it was hard to justify how Sylas might know that in the first place. Maldrith hadn't appeared in generations and had firmly cut ties with the Emperor Sanctum as well.

There were many cases of people with great talent "disappearing" from their Clans and organizations in the past. Many probably thought that Maldrith had gone to the Demi-God World, or had maybe even attempted to cross over into another Heaven.

Still, as many holes as this explanation had, it was more acceptable than the idea that someone as smart and sharp as Sylas would think that a single Legend would be enough to reverse the tide within Emperor Sanctum territory. That didn't make any sense.

Maldrith was just one character of the Lion Lineage. Granted, he was an exceptional talent and would have likely been the 711th Lion Emperor had he not lost to his brother. But he was still just one character after all.

Let alone the fact that Maldrith's brother was still alive, the 710th Lion Emperor was still alive as well. As were the 712th... and 713th.

The Emperor Sanctum wasn't like the Warlord Sanctums, who only had one set of Ancestors still alive. They grew far more powerful, and as such, they lived far longer.

And that didn't count the numerous other Ancestors who weren't quite so dominant in their generations but were still the cream of the crop.
