**The Unseen Kingdom That Followed Me Into Every Dream**
by Alyndra Meron Valeen
“Did I just inadvertently portray myself as someone with an abundance of free time when I declared that I would always be available for him? What kind of physician does that make me sound like? Oh no… Why didn’t you ever teach me how to converse with men, Master?!”
Metis was in a state unlike her usual composed self. One moment, she found herself groaning in self-reproach over what she considered a monumental blunder, and the next, a light giggle escaped her lips as she relished the delightful nuances of her recent encounter with Sebastian.
A sudden thought pierced through her swirling emotions. “Wait! The altercation between Sebastian and Terry… It all began because of a woman, didn’t it?”
Sebastian had once cautioned Terry against meddling with some woman when he chose to forgive him. But who could this mysterious woman possibly be?
A cloud of gloom settled over her features, darkening her mood. “Don’t tell me… he already has someone special in his life! What on earth am I going to do?”
Gone was the aloof, ethereal goddess that Metis usually embodied; in her place stood a regular girl, grappling with the disheartening possibility of never being able to confess her feelings to her crush.
Just as her thoughts spiraled deeper into despair, a voice called out to her, breaking through the haze of her worries. “Hello? Is the clinic open?”
“Yes, it is!” Metis replied, her voice echoing from her room. She shook her head vigorously, attempting to dispel her tumultuous thoughts before stepping outside into the light.
Her clinic, which also served as her home, was a modest space filled with the aroma of herbs and healing balms. After leaving her room, she crossed the small, serene courtyard adorned with potted plants and arrived at the dispensary. There, a patient awaited her—a young woman, her hand pressed against her cheek, wincing in visible pain.
“Did someone strike you? Fortunately, it doesn’t appear to be too serious. I’ll prepare a balm for you. Use it for one or two days, and refrain from applying any makeup during that time. You should heal quite soon,” Metis assured her, already piecing together the story behind Mila’s injuries. It was clear she had been slapped.
“My boss did this to me! I made a comment that didn’t sit well, and now I’ve lost my job along with this lovely parting gift! This is just awful!” Mila exclaimed, indignation flashing in her eyes like sparks.
‘Why did Mr. Caprio lash out at me over someone as inconsequential as Sebastian? And why was I fired? What kind of status does Sebastian actually hold, anyway? Look at him! He should have been a nobody forever! What kind of sorcery has suddenly elevated his worth?’ she pondered angrily, her thoughts racing in a whirlwind of frustration.
“A powerful sugar mommy, I bet! That has to be the reason he suddenly wants a divorce! It all makes sense now!” she muttered to herself, her eyes lighting up with the thrill of the theory she had concocted.
Metis completed the preparation of the balm, sealing it carefully for Mila. With a swift exchange of payment, Mila exited the clinic, her mind still swirling with thoughts of betrayal and confusion. Once outside, she quickly reached for her phone, dialing Hera with urgency.
