**The Unseen Kingdom That Followed Me Into Every Dream by Alyndra Meron Valeen**
**Chapter 158**
As I glanced out of my office window, a wave of realization washed over me: nearly a dozen of my employees were absent. My heart sank a little as I pulled up our group chat, and the truth hit me like a cold splash of water—they had all stepped out to reconnect with old contacts and secure a contract.
In that moment, I felt an odd sense of isolation. Here I was, the CEO, and yet the weight of responsibility felt lighter than a feather. It was as if the world had spun on without me, leaving me behind. With a sudden resolve, I decided to seize the opportunity to visit Baron at the hospital.
He had gone above and beyond to protect me today, risking everything in the process. To me, he wasn’t just an ally; he had already become a friend in the short span of our acquaintance.
As I made my way to the hospital, the sky transformed into a canvas of deep oranges and purples, dusk settling like a gentle blanket over the city. Upon arriving at the VIP ward, I was met with an unexpected sight—a woman, perhaps in her sixties or seventies, sat vigil by Baron’s bedside, her eyes soft yet weary as she watched him sleep. Suddenly, she stood up, startled by my presence.
“Who are you?” she inquired, her voice a mix of curiosity and protectiveness.
“Good evening, ma’am. I’m Sebastian Grimwald,” I introduced myself, holding up the fruit basket and supplements I had brought along as a peace offering. “I came to check on him.”
Her eyes widened in recognition, and a smile broke across her face. “Oh, so you’re Sebastian! My son has mentioned you often. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, young man. I’m Evanna, Baron’s mother. Just call me Evanna.”
In that moment, it struck me like a bolt of lightning—of course, Baron was only in his forties. His mother would naturally be around this age.
I turned my attention back to Baron, whose pale face stirred a deep sense of regret within me. “I’m truly sorry for causing your son so much trouble. He’s hurt because of me,” I confessed, my voice barely above a whisper.
Evanna continued, explaining that Baron had been declared stable. His wounds had been treated, and all he needed now was time to recuperate at home. She chuckled lightly, “Oh, this is a good chance to finally keep him home instead of letting him mix with a bad crowd,” she joked, her eyes sparkling with a mixture of relief and humor.
Then, almost as if a thought had struck her suddenly, she turned to me with a serious expression. “Sebastian, your friend is quite an incredible physician, isn’t she? I’ve had some health problems myself. Would it be possible for me to ask her for help?”
It was clear that Evanna, like many of the city’s elite, was aware of Metis’ reputation and the challenges involved in securing her treatment. I felt a surge of determination; I could provide Evanna with the opportunity she sought.
“Of course,” I replied, my voice firm and resolute.
There was no reason for me to decline, especially while Baron lay there injured because of my actions.
