**The Unseen Kingdom That Followed Me Into Every Dream by Alyndra Meron Valeen 186**
Mila spoke with an unwavering conviction, her voice cutting through the tension like a knife. “Then, it’s hardly surprising that Sebastian managed to clear his name so effortlessly. Everything fell into place far too conveniently, almost as if he orchestrated it all himself. That’s precisely why you can’t trust him!”
Hera studied Mila closely, her instincts tingling with the sense that something was amiss. Despite her usual air of confidence as the CEO, she found herself at a loss, grappling with uncertainty.
“What am I supposed to do, then?” she asked, her voice tinged with desperation.
“You absolutely cannot approach him now and admit to any wrongdoing. It doesn’t matter whose fault it is; what woman would ever lower herself first?” Mila scoffed, her tone icy. “Since he’s playing hard to get, you need to buy yourself some time. Drag this out. Let’s see who cracks first.”
“You mean… I shouldn’t attend the divorce meeting tomorrow?”
A flicker of hope ignited in Hera’s eyes at the suggestion. She had employed delaying tactics before; it drove Sebastian mad, but at least it had kept their marriage intact for the time being.
“Of course, I don’t mean you should back out of the divorce entirely…” Mila quickly amended, a hint of panic creeping into her voice.
What if Hera chose not to go through with the divorce? What would happen to the substantial sum that Edmund had promised her? This marriage had to come to an end!
Hera’s brow furrowed in confusion. “How do I test it?”
Yet, Mila’s words echoed in Hera’s mind. Their marital issues couldn’t be solely her fault. Sebastian had made his share of mistakes too. Hera’s lifelong pride would never allow him to walk all over her. She wanted to preserve their marriage, but only if Sebastian returned to being the man who had always yielded to her, not this new version who dared to push back.
“Hera, go as planned tomorrow. Act as if you’re unaware of anything and proceed with the divorce. If he doesn’t stop you in the end, then you can always back out. But I’m convinced he will cause a scene. Because all of this is nothing but a performance!” Mila’s expression and tone left no room for doubt.
Now that Hera had resolved not to pursue the divorce, this was the only viable path forward: delay first, then make a decision. If things continued down this road, even if Hera managed to endure it, Sebastian would eventually grow tired of her indecision and push for the divorce himself.
