**The Unseen Kingdom That Followed Me Into Every Dream by Alyndra Meron Valeen 191**
**Chapter 191**
Claire’s emotions surged within her, a tempest she could no longer keep at bay. In a moment of impulsive bravery, she leaned in, her eyes sparkling with a mix of excitement and uncertainty, and pressed her lips against mine, her tongue darting out in an endearing, albeit awkward manner.
As her sweet, soft lips met mine, I felt a rush of warmth envelop me. My eyes must have widened in surprise, reflecting the bewilderment that coursed through my veins.
The kiss was unrefined, a clear indication that this was a territory unfamiliar to her. It stirred memories long buried, pulling me back to that fateful night in the hotel with Rhea, where a kiss had also marked the beginning of something complex and profound.
Suddenly, a wave of realization washed over me; I needed to halt this before it spiraled out of control. Just as I prepared to gently push her away, she withdrew first, her fingers brushing against her lips as if trying to erase the moment.
“Sorry,” she said, her voice laced with a hint of embarrassment. “I kind of lost control there. Oops.” Her cheeks flushed a bright shade of crimson as she continued, “You looked so… angelic while taking care of me, you know?”
I could hardly believe what I was hearing. “That… that was my first kiss, to be honest,” she confessed, her eyes darting away shyly. “I didn’t mean to imply you had to do anything about it, because it’s… well, a reward…”
A reward? My mind went momentarily blank, and I stared at her, bewildered. “What do you mean by that?”
With a determined glimmer in her eyes, she explained, “I have an event tomorrow, and I’d really like you to be my plus-one.” Her cheeks flared even redder as she added, “Please? There’s no one else I’d rather bring along. I tried to make dinner for you, got hurt in the process, and then… well, then I gave you my first kiss. That should be enough to convince you to come with me, right?”
It all started to click into place. No wonder her behavior had been so peculiar today. Honestly, she didn’t need to offer me such a—uh, special reward. I was meant to be at the courthouse for my divorce tomorrow, after all!
“What time is this event?” I asked, trying to keep my tone neutral.
In an impulsive burst of affection, she flung herself at me, wrapping her arms around my waist. Then, just as quickly, she backed away, her feet skipping lightly as she made her way to her room.
Before shutting the door, she turned back, flashing me a shy smile. “Don’t overthink that, Sebastian! That was just a platonic hug!”
With that, she closed the door, leaving me in a state of silent bewilderment.
A few moments passed before I finally shook off the confusion, a chuckle escaping my lips. “For a platonic relationship, you sure are touchy.”
Returning to my room, I felt the need to inform Hera of the change in plans. I quickly typed out a message.
[Change of plan. I have something I need to attend to in the afternoon. Delay procedure until the afternoon. Will let you know the exact time tomorrow.]
