"THE VIRUS..."
Moon Noa heard what Lee Woonhak mumbled, and he understood the doctor’s concern.
After all, the barriers were created around Osaki Shohei’s medical tent to contain the virus.
However, his Status Window gave him assurance.
[The virus has already been absorbed by Guide Noh Yuno. Rest assured, the virus won’t spread anymore.]
"Woonhak-ssi, you don’t have to worry about the virus spreading," Moon Noa said. And, yes, there were people whom he couldn’t simply give a cute pet name. One of them was Lee Woonhak because the man was too serious and too stoic to tease. "The System assured us that Yuyu has already absorbed all the virus."
Lee Woonhak looked horrified by the ’good news.’ "Then does it mean..."
"BLERGH!"
Everyone turned to the source of the sound.
And, as expected, it was Noh Yuno coughing up blood while Ki Gayoon was holding him by the arm and rubbing his back.
Only Yuyu can make Yoonyoon make a desperate face like that.
"Noa-san, it seems like we can’t leave yet," Haru said in a low voice while looking at the medical tent where Osaki Shohei should be. "Shohei-kun..."
Yeah.
Moon Noa clenched his hands tight as his chest tightened painfully.
Shohei-ssi is gone.

[GUIDE NOH YUNO, don’t be afraid. You’re coughing up blood because your body is getting rid of the toxins from the virus that the System had just killed.]
Aigoo.
Yuno wasn’t afraid that he was coughing up black blood.
He was afraid that the Esper next to him would suddenly snap and just go on a killing spree.
I’m not sure if I have the energy to guide Gayoon Hyung.
Fortunately, Ki Gayoon was holding up well.
I can tell that Hyung is angry, but he’s doing his best to endure.
[Thank you for your help, Guide Noh Yuno.
Please give the System time to analyze the virus that you absorbed.
Rest assured, the antidote that the System injected into your Core is working well. You’ll be fine soon.
Again, thank you for your service.]
Yuno glared at the disappearing Status Window in front of his face.
Fuck you.
The Status Window just vanished without responding.
Yuno would have thrown a tantrum for being ignored.
But, thankfully, he stopped coughing up blood. Plus, his chest didn’t feel constrained anymore. In fact, a refreshing feeling was quickly spreading throughout his body.
Oh, I’m feeling better.
Relieved, Yuno leaned against Ki Gayoon and let his entire weight fall on his lover.
Of course, Ki Gayoon just scooped him up like he weighed nothing.
"Are you alright?"
"No. I feel like shit," Yuno said, scrunching his nose. "I wanna wash my face and brush my teeth, Hyung."
"Alright," Ki Gayoon said. "Let’s get inside for now."

AFTER YUNO freshened up, he called for an emergency meeting and summoned the people that he needed to talk to.
Of course, Ki Gayoon was glued next to him.
Anyway, he stopped Moon Noa and Haru from leaving yet.
Sajangnim and Haru-nim don’t look like they have any intention of leaving anyway. They probably want to know what happened to Osaki Shohei first.
That was exactly what Yuno wanted to discuss.
I really don’t want to lead, but I have no choice this time.
Moreover, he also knew that they still had to send people to help President Kwak Hakjae handle the situation, so...
"Sarang Noona."
"Yes, Yuno-ya?"
"Please go to President Kwak and explain the situation to him," Yuno said in a serious tone. "Please bring Kwon Hojun and Kim Jaeha with you. You said the people who attacked you in Japan wanted you to hand over Kwon Hojun to them. So, it’s safe to assume that they might return for him. As the second strongest Esper in Korea, I want to entrust the kids’ safety to you. Is that okay, Noona?"
"Of course, Yuno-ya," Lee Sarang said while nodding. "I’ll take care of the kids."
"Thank you, Noona," Yuno said, and then he turned to the Gu Twins. "Inwoo Hyung, Inkyu Hyung, can you accompany them again?"
The Gu Twins answered at the same time. "Of course, Madam."
"Thank you."
After that, Lee Sarang left with the kids and the Gu Twins.
Next, Yuno turned to Kang Dabin.
I wonder if they trust me, or they’re just afraid of offending me because of Gayoon Hyung.
It’s nice that I don’t have to explain.
First things first.
Of course, they’ll be greatly affected by his death.
"That’s the thing I wanted to discuss with all of you," Yuno said, addressing everyone in the room with his gaze. "Osaki Shohei died because he broke the Oath of Silence that he took— he revealed the enemies’ goal. Well, he didn’t get to say everything because he suddenly combusted. But he shared some very important information before he died."
"What is it?" Ki Gayoon asked curiously. "I’m under the impression that those bastards are only here to see the end of the world."
"They’re not aiming for the end of the world, Hyung— they want to turn the human world into a huge feeding ground for monsters."
The atmosphere in the room suddenly went cold.
Yeah, even I had goosebumps after hearing that from Osaki Shohei earlier.
"Apparently, the Civilians are meant to be food for low-level monsters. Maybe Osaki Shohei was talking about dungeon monsters, since unintelligent monsters that only know how to eat are considered low-level," Yuno continued with his explanation. "And, apparently, the civil wars that happened in nations where Espers wanted to eliminate Civilians were also orchestrated by the enemies."
Now everyone had realized how grave the situation was.
The civil wars in the strongest nations in the world had been happening for a long time now.
That means the enemies have been controlling the world for that long, too.
"That’s not the worst part of Osaki Shohei’s revelation, though."
This time, everyone looked at Yuno as if asking, "there’s more?"
Yes, there’s more— unfortunately.
"Osaki Shohei claimed that the Civilians are meant to be food for low-level monsters, while the Awakened People are meant to be food for something else," Yuno said, clenching his hands tight. "He didn’t get to finish what he wanted to say, so I believe the one that triggered the Oath of Silence was the fact that he was about to talk about the thing that wanted to eat Awakened People."
"They must be intelligent monsters if they wanted to eat Awakened People," Ki Gayoon said, scoffing. "The humanoid monsters like the pink bastard, for example. They probably need to eat Awakened People to maintain their appearance and intellect close to humans’."
Huh?
Yuno was surprised by Ki Gayoon’s quick thinking.
Gayoon Hyung is making a lot of sense, but...
"You know, it’s confusing," Yuno said when he remembered something else. "Osaki Shohei also claimed that the Civilians with him agreed to have an Artificial Core embedded into their hearts because, apparently, only the Awakened People would be allowed to survive. But he also claimed that Awakened People are meant to be food for high-level monsters."
"The answer to that is simple, Yuno. There are two types of Awakened People, after all— natural and artificial," 17 said, drumming his fingers on the table while thinking deeply. "The artificial ones, awakened by Artificial Cores, are the ones probably meant to be food. They definitely need the natural Awakened People for another purpose. Otherwise, they would have killed Espers from the start instead of manipulating them into starting a civil war."
Oh, everything 17 said made a lot of sense, too.
Now Yuno understood why Ki Gayoon and 17 were the strongest Hunters in the world.
They have the brains, too.
Anyway, that stuff was making his head hurt, so...
"I’ll leave that problem to the Espers," Yuno said, and then he turned to Moon Noa. "Sajangnim, I have a job for Guides— please help me."
