RYU SUNGBIN let out a sigh of relief when he finally got the chance to meet Jin Sooin and Matthew without the presence of the monsters keeping them under strict surveillance.
Unfortunately, they only had a limited time together.
It just so happened that the Special Grade dungeon that appeared near the National Guide Bureau required the presence of three natural S-Class Espers.
The final boss of the dungeon wasn’t really that strong.
But the dungeon required natural S-Class Espers because the dungeon itself was alive— and it was feeding off their Mana. Hence, if inferior Espers entered the dungeon, those poor Espers would have been drained to death already.
There was a downside, though.
Even though natural S-Class Espers had bigger Core (aka Mana tank) than average Espers, it didn’t mean they had an infinite source of Mana.
So, we have to hurry up and leave the dungeon.
That was also why the time limit for the dungeon raid was only 10 hours.
"We need to get out soon before this dungeon drains our Mana," Ryu Sungbin said, sitting on the dead phoenix monster that they had just finished killing. "Let’s catch up with each other before we go."
First of all, yes— the monster in that dungeon was a phoenix.
Unfortunately, that phoenix was programmed to burn humans to a crisp before eating them. Hence, the majestic beast wasn’t suitable to be a ’pet.’ It was also impossible to tame.
Hence, they had to kill it.
The phoenix was easy to kill. However, one of the most annoying traits of a phoenix was its ability to be revived again and again after it had already turned into ashes.
That’s why it takes a long time to kill a phoenix.
The key was to break its heart that was responsible for its revival.
"How are you?" Ryu Sungbin asked worriedly. "I heard Bambi appointed a Guide for each one of you."
"Rebecca is a little crazy, but she’s not that bad," Jin Sooin said. "We’ve just spent a few times together, and I think she isn’t aware that she’s working for monsters. She’s scared of Bambi, though. So, she listens to him well."
"That’s the same for my Guide," Matthew said. "Kim Jaeha is a crybaby, but the kid seems innocent. Like Rebecca, he’s scared of Bambi as well. I don’t think he knows Bambi is a monster since the kid also says that he respects Bambi as a Guide."
"Your Guides definitely don’t know that Bambi is a monster because Bambi himself has forgotten about his true identity," Ryu Sungbin said. "How about Lee Sarang’s Guide? I can’t look after her properly since Bambi and Kim Munhee always separate her from me."
"Mo Hanjin doesn’t seem like he cares about anything other than his video games. He’s pretty mean to our Sarang, though," Rebecca said, pausing for a moment. "I heard that Bambi killed Mo Hanjin’s original Esper just to recruit him for our Sarang. After all, Mo Hanjin has the highest compatibility rate with Lee Sarang among the Guides in the country. He refused Bambi’s offer to be Lee Sarang’s Guide because he wanted to imprint with his Esper. So, Bambi killed his partner and dragged him to the National Guide Bureau."
"Mo Hanjin is taking it out on Lee Sarang," Matthew added, sighing. "He often waits until Lee Sarang is on the verge of a Rampage before he guides her."
Ryu Sungbin frowned after hearing that. "And Lee Sarang lets that jerk do that to her? Ki Gayoon taught her to kill people who treat her like shit."
If Ki Gayoon were here, that Mo Hanjin wouldn’t be alive for long.
"That’s the frustrating part, Oppa," Jin Sooin said. "Our Sarang seems to be in love with that man. I tried to knock some sense into her, but she wouldn’t listen."
"Lee Sarang only listens to Gayoon Hyung," Matthew said. "If only we could let Lee Srang and Gayoon Hyung meet..."
"That won’t be possible for now. We’re on our own this time, so let’s be extra careful," Ryu Sungbin said, looking back and forth between Jin Sooin and Matthew. "Sooin-ah, Matthew, it seems like the Guides that Bambi chose for us have the ability to manipulate our emotions. Since we’re also mentally stable, it won’t be hard for those bastards to control our feelings. But please try not to fall in love with your Guides— we’re not in our right mind to let that happen."

WHERE AM I?

I would have killed them if I could.
I don’t mind dying, but I can’t die until my dongsaengs are safe.
