It felt like I’d been run over by a truck. My body felt light yet heavy at the same time, and I knew exactly why. I opened my eyes with a groan and was greeted by the source of my weariness.
Compared to me, he looked completely fine. Invigorated, even.
“You must have had a good morning, I told him, narrowing my eyes.
“And a good night,” Levi added. “In fact, a great night.”
His gaze drifted from my face down to my neck, and at that moment, I already knew. This man was planning to relive whay had happened last night. I pulled the covers closer around me.
“You really did,” I said through gritted teeth. “You wouldn’t stop until the fourth round. What kind of monster are you?”
“I’m only that kind of monster for you.”
I had to admit that the cheesy line sent a flutter through my chest, but I hid it with a roll of my eyes. I sat up, only to feel a sharp ache in my lower back. Levi was beside me in an instant.
His brows knitted together. “Should we go to the hospital?”
I couldn’t help but chuckle at his urgency.
“You won’t even go to the hospital when your body’s practically collapsing, but you want to take me right now?”
“You’re different,” he said seriously.
I laughed at that answer while he looked at me with pure confusion. Reaching out, I patted his head.
His expression visibly softened.
He really was like a big puppy.
Before I could coo over how adorable he looked, my eyes landed on the clock sitting on the bedside table, and they widened.
“Levi! It’s half past eight!”
He glanced at the clock before looking back at me.
“Hmm,” he hummed with a nod. “Want to have breakfast?”
I shook my head and climbed out of bed, clutching the sheets tightly around me. The rush of adrenaline must have drowned out the ache in my body because I barely felt it anymore.
“I’ll be late for work at this point!” I told him.
I turned around and found him leaning against the headboard, wearing nothing but his underwear, watching me with a small, lazy smirk.
As my gaze traveled lower, I noticed the unmistakable bulge beneath the fabric.
I glared at him.
“Levi,” I warned.

“Can’t help it,” he muttered. “You look so sexy.”
I looked down at myself with a slight frown.
I was literally wrapped in his blanket!
I shook my head.
I would never understand the logic of men. Or, more specifically, the logic of Levi.
“You can skip work,” he said. “I’ll tell Beth you’re sick.”
“No.” I shook my head.
“So stubborn,” he muttered.
“I have to work.”
“The guys aren’t even coming in today. We don’t have official practice.”

“Well, I still need to be there during working hours, just in case someone decides to practice. And if Beth or Lia need help.”
He let out a long sigh.
“But I want to spend more time with you.”
I paused for a moment. That actually sounded really tempting.
Lying in bed, wrapped safely in Levi’s arms, felt like the perfect way to spend the rest of the morning.
But I couldn’t just abandon my job.
We stared at each other for a long moment before he finally released another deep breath.
“You can use my bathroom. I’ll drive you to the rink. Text Beth and tell her you’ll be a little late because you’re not feeling well.”
I smiled and walked toward the bathroom.
“Thanks, Levi.”
His gaze stayed on me, so intent that it made me stop in my tracks.
I tilted my head.
“Why are you staring at me like that?”
He looked away before giving his head a small shake.
“Go on before you end up even later.”
“Right.”
I stepped into the bathroom and turned on the shower. Warm water cascaded over my skin as I rinsed away the lingering exhaustion.
His scent still clung to me, and I already knew he’d taken the time to clean me up the night before. The thought sent warmth blooming through my chest.

I finished as quickly as I could before realizing I didn’t have any clothes.

But when I stepped out of the bathroom, I found yesterday’s jeans neatly folded on the counter beside a plain black shirt that I immediately recognized as Levi’s.
Shaking my head, I picked up the clothes with a smile.
Levi was setting the standard dangerously high.
