Chapter 152
Levi’s POV
Sleeping soundly wasn’t something that came naturally to me. But these days, I felt genuinely well rested. I opened my eyes and saw the reason why it finally felt like I could actually live a normal life.
Hope was sleeping against my arm, breathing softly. Her face scrunched up every now and then, making me smile unconsciously. I lifted my hand to pinch her cheek, unable to hide my cuteness aggression.
However, a groan slipped past her lips, and she slowly opened her eyes.
I continued to smile.
“Sleep more. It’s still early.”
She closed her eyes again and snuggled deeper into my chest. “What time is it?”
“Around noon,” I said.
Her eyes snapped open, and she shoved me slightly backward.
“Early?” she exclaimed. “How could that be early? I didn’t tell my mom or dad that I was going to stay out-”
“I already did,” I interrupted her. “Your mom told us to enjoy ourselves.”
She sighed in relief and lay back down on my arm. However, she didn’t close her eyes. Instead, her attention settled on my chest, her fingers absentmindedly tracing the muscles beneath my skin.
“You like it that much?”
“Hmm,” she hummed, her eyes still fixed on my chest.
I narrowed my eyes.
Was it possible to become jealous of your own chest muscles?
I placed my hand beneath her chin and gently lifted her face so she would look into my eyes instead. I didn’t say anything. I simply admired the beautiful woman in front of me.
Fuck.
How could someone look like this and still have such a kind heart?
“What’s wrong?” she asked. Then concern flashed across her face. “Right-you said your shoulder was hurting!”
She held my shoulder, her brows knitting together as she lightly pressed against it.
“It’s stiff again!”

“You held it all night, but you only noticed now?” I teased.
“Levi,” she said in a warning tone.
“It’s fine,” I said with a small smile as I pulled her closer. “There’s only one last game left this season, and then it’s over. I can finally rest.”
“You won’t train during the off-season?” she asked against my chest.
I paused for a moment, the decision I had been weighing for weeks echoing quietly inside my mind.
Maybe I could take a longer break this time.
Maybe.
But I was still thinking about it.
“Wait, wait,” she suddenly said, pushing me away again so we could face each other. “Did you just say you’d be playing in the finals? Is everything really alright now?”
“Yes,” I told her. “Everything is well and good.”
“When you told me Connor would leave me alone and that Margaret would leave, too…”
“I made a bet with the two of them,” I explained. “Let’s just say that between Connor and me, if I managed to win the game and close that big of a gap, he would leave you alone. Granted, I’d leave you alone if we lost.”
“Why were you so confident?” she asked, her eyes slightly widening.
“Because I knew I could do it. That, and I wouldn’t have left you alone even if we lost. Connor would just have to suck it up.”
A giggle escaped her lips.
“And Margaret?” she asked softly.
“She’ll leave.”
“Leave where?” she asked, tilting her head to the side, making my aggression toward her cuteness creep up again.
“Leave everything,” I smirked. “There might already be an article out.”
I reached for my phone and opened the latest hockey news. Just as I expected, it was already there. I handed it to Hope, her eyes widening with every line she read.
She sat up on the bed.
“Margaret is leaving the Glaciers? W-what? Why? How?”
I stayed silent, my gaze drifting toward her barely covered chest instead. I could still see the marks I had left

“Levi,” she said, snapping me out of my thoughts. “What on earth happened back in Manhattan?”
I shrugged, also sitting up. I pulled her closer and settled her on my lap, wrapping an arm securely around her waist and resting my chin against the top of her head.
“I honestly didn’t do anything except play well. She brought this upon herself. She said she would leave the team if I proved the team needed me. She’s plenty cruel, but she’s not someone who goes back on her word.”
“I know,” she whispered in agreement.
“So, she just left. Rightfully so. She’s all about profit anyway, so she can just focus on her other businesses.” I shrugged. “I just wonder who she transferred the franchise rights to.”
She leaned against my chest and let out a slow breath, still trying to process everything.
This time, I flipped her around so she was facing me.
“That’s why I want you to come back with me to Manhattan for the final game,” I said seriously.
Her breath hitched before a small smile slowly appeared on her lips.
“Of course,” she said. “My work at the center is going to end around that time, too. I wouldn’t miss watching you play in the finals for the world, Levi.”
“And I want you to come back to the team, too,” I added, watching her smile falter ever so slightly. “As our physical therapist.”
