I looked at Levi and hadn’t even realized the tears streaming down my cheeks. I reached up to wipe them away, but he had already done it for me.
His hands lingered on my cheeks as he looked at me with fondness, his touch gentle.
“I just can’t help it,” I muttered, leaning into his touch. “I told you I’m a crybaby.”
“Lia and the others were right,” he muttered, his eyes never leaving mine. “You really do create happy endings wherever you go.”
I bit my lip because that only made me want to cry harder.
It seemed he noticed it, too, because before another tear could fall, his lips were suddenly on mine.
I could taste the saltiness of my tears mixed with the familiar taste of him. He deepened the kiss, my lips parting unconsciously. His hand cradled my face as though I were something precious, and a quiet sound escaped me before I could stop it.
“Levi,” I moaned into his mouth, but he swallowed the sound right away.
“Gross, guys. I’m still here.”
My eyes widened, and I quickly pushed him away.
I turned to Zayla apologetically. Despite her red, swollen eyes, a bright, genuine smile curved across her lips.
“Drop me off before you guys make the pretty babies Grandma keeps requesting.”
I shook my head, my cheeks burning hotter by the second.
“It isn’t like that…”
“Come on,” she said with a teasing smirk. “I came here by cab.”
Zayla walked ahead and climbed into the back seat of Levi’s car.
Meanwhile, I turned to glare at Levi, but he was just smiling at me like we hadn’t been caught kissing seconds
ago.
“Let’s go,” I told him.
Finally, he made his way to the driver’s seat while I settled into the passenger seat.
As soon as we got inside, Zayla was already taking selfies in the back seat, throwing up peace signs and sticking

her tongue out. Levi and I exchanged amused looks before both turning to her.
“What are you doing?” Levi asked in disbelief.
“What?” she replied with a shrug. “I look pretty when I cry. I have to capture the moment.”
We continued staring at her, thoroughly amused.
“You guys just don’t understand. It’s good to take photos of moments like this.”
Just then, her flash went off, catching me off guard.
“Here,” she said with a grin, holding up her phone for us to see. “Isn’t it cute?”
My eyes widened.

The photo looked like one of those paparazzi shots where two celebrities had just been caught kissing. Our lips were still pink and swollen, and I looked quite disheveled after crying, while Levi was staring at me with an expression so soft it made my heart skip.
“Cute, right?”
“Delete the photo, Zayla,” I whined. “I look like a mess!”
However, Levi spoke before she could answer.
“Send me that photo.”
I turned to him with furrowed brows, but he simply started the engine like he’d said nothing unusual.
“Sent!” Zayla exclaimed before I could protest. “I knew you’d like it. Maybe I should post it on my personal account. Imagine how many followers I’d gain. Hope looks really pretty here, too…”
“No,” Levi suddenly said, his voice firm.
My breath hitched as I felt his eyes flick toward me.
“For my eyes only,” he said with a wink.
“Thanks for the ride!” Zayla exclaimed as she climbed out of the car.
We were parked in the parking lot of the apartment building she was currently staying in.
She didn’t leave right away. Instead, she stayed by my window for another moment.
“And… thank you for everything,” she said softly, looking at both of us. “I really mean it.”
The three of us stayed like that for a few quiet seconds before she flipped her hair.

“That’s one of the rare times I’m ever going to be vulnerable, so don’t take it for granted. I’m leaving now!”
She waved enthusiastically before practically skipping toward the elevator.
I let out a quiet, happy breath while Levi rolled the windows back up.
When I turned to him, I couldn’t stop myself from wrapping my arms around him inside the car.
I yelped in surprise when he effortlessly lifted me and settled me onto his lap.
