Sienna stood by the window and glanced back at him. "Lucas, thank you."
"Don't mention it."
——
After finishing his work, Grant returned to the estate.
Just as he walked in, he noticed the shoe rack was empty—his slippers hadn't been set out. He frowned, bending down to dig out a pair from the bottom shelf himself.
A clattering noise echoed from the kitchen, mixed with Lyla's complaints.
"How do I turn on this pan? Which knob is for the stove?"
Susan stood to the side, a very subtle expression on her face.
Grant walked over to see Lyla standing by the counter in an apron, holding a bag of frozen dumplings and staring blankly at the induction cooktop.
Spotting him, she immediately put on a pitiful pout.
"Grant, you're finally home. I wanted to make you a midnight snack, but I don't really know how to use this kitchen..."
"Leave the cooking to the staff. You don't need to do it yourself."
Susan chimed in to explain, "Madam used to do all the cooking, but nobody knows where she's run off to these past couple of days."
At the mention of Sienna, Grant's brow furrowed slightly.
Because he had never given Sienna an ounce of respect, and she was always so pathetically submissive, the staff had mirrored his attitude.
Seeing his expression, Susan instantly caught on and adopted a complaining tone.
"She's just using her pregnancy to do whatever she wants. Who knows what kind of trouble she's getting into out there."
"But don't be too angry, Mr. Gauthier. She'll likely come crawling back once she's had her fun."
With that, she let out a heavy sigh.
"She's just so immature. She doesn't even know when it's appropriate to slack off. What if you went hungry?"
Lyla grew incredibly annoyed hearing the maid constantly bring up that woman, so she cut in.
"Grant, I can cook for you too, and I'd do it just as well as she did."
Hearing this, Susan recalled how Lyla had nearly blown up the kitchen just moments ago, but swallowed her words.
Grant didn't say anything, merely grunting in acknowledgment before heading into his study.
He refused to believe it. Was it really impossible for him to function without Sienna?
Just then, his phone rang.
It was his assistant calling.
"Mr. Gauthier, I've tracked down your wife."
"Speak."
The assistant hesitated for a second before saying, "She went into a hotel with a man."
As soon as the words left his mouth, a deathly silence fell over the call.
The assistant clearly felt the tension, but he had no choice but to brace himself and continue.
"The family lawyer asked me to remind you that there is a thirty-day cooling-off period for the divorce. If you exceed that timeframe, the divorce won't go through."
"So, just to be safe, he suggested you keep her close until the day you actually receive the divorce certificate."
Grant tightened his grip on his phone.
The air pressure in the room dropped to a terrifying chill.
