"Sotheby's has already sent word. As long as you exhibit this time, they've reserved a cover spot for you in their autumn auction."

Sienna smiled. "Okay."

They chatted a bit more before Hunter left.

The front door clicked shut, and Sienna's eyes instantly dimmed.

This competition would be her final exhibition.

She absolutely would not disappoint the people who cared about her.

...

When Grant returned to the living room, everyone was waiting for him.

Eleanor sat on the sofa, her face livid. Madeline and Nathaniel stood to the side, looking equally grim.

"Where is she?" Eleanor demanded.

Grant's lips pressed into a tight line. He didn't answer.

"I asked you a question!" Eleanor slammed her cane against the floor. "Where is Sienna? Did you bring her back?"

Grant stood in the middle of the room, his eyes downcast. His mind was filled with the image of Sienna getting into the car without looking back, and Lucas Lowery's irritating face.

"She refused to come back."

"She refused, and you just let her go?" Eleanor's voice was sharp and piercing. "Grant, do you take my words for a joke?"

"Mom," Madeline probed cautiously. "You can't blame this entirely on Grant. Couples fight all the time. Sienna is just angry right now. Maybe in a couple of days..."

"A couple of days?" Eleanor glared at her. "She divorced your son! And you say a couple of days? Why don't you say a couple of years?"

Madeline shrank back, silenced.

Nathaniel frowned at Grant. "What exactly happened between you and Sienna? Explain yourself."

Grant stayed silent for a few seconds.

He didn't want to talk about it, especially not now, and certainly not laying bare his relationship with Sienna in front of these people.

But he knew his grandmother wouldn't let it go unless he gave her an answer today.

"I was the one who asked for the divorce."

Nathaniel finally spoke up. "Mom, please calm down. Beating him won't solve anything."

"Why won't it!" Eleanor panted, pointing a trembling finger at Grant. "I knew Sienna's suffering all these years was entirely his fault!"

"Messing around with that homewrecker all day and pushing your real wife away! Tell me, what the hell is wrong with your brain?!"

Grant's face shifted between shades of pale and flushed.

In the past, he would have just frowned at these words and moved on.

In his mind, Sienna had always been a disposable substitute. She loved him anyway; no matter what he did, she wouldn't leave.

But now... she was really gone.

Clean and decisive. No crying, no screaming, not even a backward glance.

The woman who had stayed awake for three days and nights to care for him when he was sick, who swallowed all her grievances for him, had simply gotten into another man's car, leaving him alone in the night.

Grant's hands clenched into fists in his pockets, then slowly released.

"Don't worry, Eleanor. I promise I will bring her back."
