They didn't even see her as worthy of being recycled.
The system's chime pinged softly in her mind.
[Time remaining: 27 days.]
Sienna pulled her gaze away from their greedy faces and spoke with glacial calm.
"There is no money."
"And there won't be any in the future, either."
Samuel's face turned a violent shade of purple. "Say that to me one more time!"
"I said, there is no money," Sienna repeated, her voice light but every syllable painfully clear. "I'm walking away with absolutely nothing. Not a single cent."
Samuel's eyes bulged with rage, making him look absolutely deranged.
"I raised you! I fed you and put a roof over your head, and this is the garbage you give me in return?"
Hearing that, Sienna let out a cold laugh in her head.
Raised her?
Sienna had been raised by her grandmother. These people had never lifted a finger to care for her.
When she was fifteen and won the gold medal at an international youth art exhibition, the twelve thousand dollars in prize money was snatched by Samuel the very same day.
He had the audacity to say, 'I gave you life, so this money belongs to me.'
It wasn't until her grandmother passed away that they begrudgingly brought her back from the countryside.
And even after she moved in, they never gave her a dime.
Every cent for her tuition and living expenses was earned through grueling part-time jobs.
Even so, Simon would regularly team up with his high school friends to mug her for her cash. There was one time he stole everything she had, leaving her starving for four days straight.
Her entire family was a pack of leeches. Now that they knew she was getting a divorce and their cash flow was drying up, of course they were furious.
Samuel roared in pure fury, "You ungrateful wretch! I'm going to teach you a lesson today!"
With that, he lunged forward, raising a heavy hand, ready to slap her brutally across the face.
Sienna's eyes remained dead and emotionless. Without a hint of panic, she simply took a calm step backward.
Simon, utterly absorbed in his video game, acted as if he hadn't heard a thing.
It took Fiona yelling his name several more times before he finally groaned in annoyance, tossing his phone aside to haul them upright.
The moment Samuel slumped back onto the sofa, still gasping for air, he pointed a furious finger right at Sienna's nose.
"You black-hearted traitor! Trying to kill your own father!"
Sienna remained completely unfazed. "You tripped on your own."
"If I wasn't trying to hit you, I wouldn't have fallen!" Samuel glared, spit flying from his mouth.
Fiona chimed in immediately. "Exactly! You should have just stood there and let your dad hit you. If he hadn't missed, he wouldn't be hurt!"
Listening to their absurd, twisted logic, Sienna only felt a deep sense of pity for them.
Simon didn't even pause to think before he blurted out his demands.
"Pay up! Five million isn't going to cut it anymore. I want at least ten million!"
"If you don't fork over the cash today, you're not walking out that door!"
