Sienna met Grant's gaze dead on, unflinching.

"What would have been the point of telling you?"

"Would you have kicked Lyla out of my room to make space for me?"

"No. You wouldn't have."

"You would have just accused me of throwing a tantrum and deliberately targeting your precious childhood sweetheart."

It was as if something was lodged in Grant's throat. He couldn't force a single word out.

Because everything Sienna said was a flawless breakdown of his exact mentality and exactly how he would have reacted.

If she had complained back then, he absolutely would have brushed it off as her being petty and jealous of Lyla.

"Besides," she said softly, yet her words sliced through the silence like a scalpel, "living in a basement was nothing compared to that time you ordered your driver to dump me on the side of the highway."

"What?!" Grant's eyes went wide with pure shock, filled with nothing but dazed confusion. "When did I ever... order my driver to leave you on the highway?"

"Oh?" Sienna let out a cynical laugh. "So Grant didn't know?"

She tilted her head slightly, as if genuinely pondering a difficult puzzle.

"Well, that is strange," she drawled, her gaze snapping toward the woman beside them like a stiletto. "I wonder who could possibly hate me so much, and be so consumed by jealousy, that they would orchestrate something like that?"

The second the words left her mouth, Lyla jumped as if she had just stepped on a live wire.

"Stop framing people!" she shrieked. "I had absolutely nothing to do with any of that! If you're going to make accusations, show us the proof!"

Without skipping a beat, she spun back toward Grant.

Tears instantly welled up in her eyes. She gripped his arm tight, her voice sliding right back into that sickeningly sweet, victimized pitch.

"Grant~ look at her~ she's trying to frame me."

But right then, Sienna started to laugh.

It wasn't loud, but the low, mocking sound bounced off the damp basement walls, carrying a chill that seeped straight into the bone.

"What are you laughing at!"

Lyla demanded sharply, thoroughly unnerved by the sound.
