But he didn't want to.

He didn't want the truth; he only wanted a convenient excuse to pamper his childhood sweetheart, rather than tangible proof that he was entirely blind and foolish.

"You really are a remarkably generous man, Grant."

Sienna lifted her head, offering a bone-chilling stare.

"People are playing you for an absolute fool, and you're still handing them the cash."

"Since your heart aches so much for your precious Lyla, you should put her on a pedestal and lock her away so she stops sickening the rest of us."

"As for my forgiveness? Catch me in the next lifetime."

Grant's face instantly mutated into a terrifying scowl.

"Sienna, don't push your luck."

"I just lowered myself to explain things to you. What more do you want? Will you only be satisfied if you completely humiliate everyone in the room?"

Sienna didn't have the energy to trade insults with him anymore.

Snatching up the sketchbook she had left behind, she spun on her heel.

"Lucas, let's go."

Lucas followed closely behind. As he brushed past Grant, he paused, his eyes radiating unfiltered disgust.

"You can't even keep your own woman, yet here you are playing the tragic, devoted lover," Lucas sneered.

"Trash belongs in the dumpster. Stop dragging it out to pollute the air."

With that, he placed a protective hand on Sienna and escorted her out without looking back.

Watching Sienna's brutally resolute back, a violent spasm of pain seized Grant's heart.

Instinctively, he took a step forward to chase after her.

"Grant! You're all I have left! What am I supposed to do if you leave me?"

Lyla suddenly threw herself at him, latching onto him in a desperate death grip.

"Sienna is so aggressive, she even cursed at you! If she comes back to hit me, I won't have anyone to protect me!"

Grant stopped dead in his tracks.

He looked down at Lyla sobbing messily against him, then back up toward the stairs where Sienna had just vanished.

An agonizing tug-of-war erupted in his brain between his towering ego and his ingrained sense of responsibility toward Lyla.

Ultimately, he clenched his jaw and pulled his foot back.

"I'm not leaving."
