The chaos in the museum slowly dissipated. Sienna stood in front of an empty picture frame, watching the assistants pack up the equipment one piece at a time.

"Sienna."

Hunter Hale's voice called out from behind her.

She had already swapped out her heels for a pair of flats, striding over with purpose.

The tablet in her hand was still lit up, displaying real-time metrics pulled straight from all the major media outlets.

"We've claimed three of the top five trending spots, and the engagement is still climbing. The Gauthier family's PR team is desperately trying to delete comments, but..." She waved the tablet. "They're way too late."

Sienna didn't reply. She unclipped the microphone from behind her ear, her fingers brushing the freezing metal casing before realizing her palms were coated in a thin layer of cold sweat.

Lucas Lowery walked in through a side door, holding her coat.

The AC in the hall was blasting. After standing around in that flimsy black dress for so long, the skin on the back of her neck was freezing.

He didn't say a word, simply walking over and draping the coat over her shoulders.

"You did well."

Just those three simple words, devoid of any exaggerated concern, finally allowed Sienna's tightly strung shoulders to relax.

"Let's go," Hunter said, tucking her tablet away. "If we stick around any longer, Grant might come charging back with a small army of lawyers."

"Let's find somewhere to eat. My treat."

The three of them headed to a private club on the outskirts of the city.

Their private dining room overlooked the lake. Outside the glass window, a few withered lotus leaves drifted on the water, spinning lazily in the breeze.

A waiter set down the final bowl of soup and excused himself.

Sienna picked up her teacup, her fingers brushing the warm porcelain, realizing only then that her hands had been freezing the entire time.

Lucas refilled her cup, his movements so natural it was as if he had been doing it for years.

"Grant put on a great 'penance' performance today," he said thoughtfully. "So great that I was starting to wonder if he hired a scriptwriter."

Sienna let out a low chuckle, though her eyes remained entirely humorless.

Hunter scoffed. "If he actually had that kind of talent, he should've gone into Hollywood. He'd make way more there than as the CEO of The Gauthier Group."
