Seraphina continued to run her mouth, enthusiastically rattling off all of K's legendary achievements as if she had memorized the entire Art Basel exhibition catalog.

Eleanor finally had enough and tapped her cane sharply against the floor.

"That's enough."

With one sentence, Seraphina instantly snapped her mouth shut.

Eleanor glanced down at the beautiful canvas the butler had stored away, then looked up at Sienna, her eyes brimming with undeniable, protective pride.

"In my eyes, Sienna's painting is the absolute best!"

Seraphina desperately wanted to argue back, but she bit her lip, not daring to utter another word.

The banquet continued, and the rest of the evening went smoothly. No one else dared to cause trouble for Sienna.

Eleanor kept her seated by her side the entire time, personally serving her food while constantly muttering, "You're too thin, eat a little more."

It was almost ten o'clock by the time the event wrapped up.

The guests gradually said their goodbyes, leaving the front hall empty while the staff began clearing the tables.

Madeline and Nathaniel finally dropped their fake socialite smiles. The two conversed in low voices near the corridor corner, both sporting dark expressions.

Sienna stood up to leave, but Eleanor gently held her back.

"Sienna, don't rush off just yet."

The older woman then turned her gaze to Grant, who was also heading for the door.

"Grant, you stay too."

Grant paused in his tracks. He glanced at Eleanor, then at Sienna, before finally walking back over.

The three of them were led into a small, private living room in the back. After serving coffee, the staff retreated and pulled the doors shut behind them.

Sitting in the center seat, Eleanor patted the spot beside her, motioning for Sienna to sit. She then looked her up and down carefully.

"Sienna, how is the baby doing? You mentioned morning sickness last time. Is it any better now?"

Sienna went totally rigid.

The baby... the baby she had lost after Grant pushed her down the stairs.

A painful lump formed in her throat, rendering her speechless for a long moment.

"Starting tomorrow, you are taking Sienna to work with you at the company."

The moment those words fell, both Sienna and Grant jerked their heads up.

"Eleanor..."

"Let me finish." Eleanor raised a hand to silence Sienna. "I'm not actually making you do any heavy lifting. With your delicate health, I'd never allow that."

"You'll just shadow Grant as his assistant. It's a good chance to learn a few things."

She patted Sienna's hand again, speaking with deep earnestness.

"Once the baby is born, you'll need to slowly learn the ropes of the business. As a woman, you have to rely on yourself to secure your future."

"Relying on a man or a child—it's all an illusion."

Sitting nearby, Grant suddenly let out an awkward cough.

Eleanor shot him a dirty look, refusing to spare his ego. "What are you looking at? I'm talking exactly about men like you!"

Sienna knew Eleanor meant well, but a flicker of extreme reluctance crossed her face.
