A sharp sting flared in Sienna's nose. She took a deep breath, forcing the sensation back down.
Then, without a shred of hesitation, she signed her name cleanly and decisively.
Grant frowned.
After signing, she placed the pen back on the desk and pushed the document toward him.
"Is there anything else?"
Grant stared at the signature for several seconds. The ink was still wet, the name 'Sienna Sawyer' written perfectly.
He had demanded child support purely to make Sienna suffer.
She was already leaving the marriage with nothing, and her family had no money. These added clauses essentially slapped her with a massive debt, large enough to ruin her entire life.
He expected her to back down and beg him.
But she had actually signed it.
His chest felt tight, as if a wad of cotton was stuffed inside.
Grant rapidly analyzed her motives in his head. Coming to a conclusion, he leaned back in his chair, his tone bone-chilling.
"Signing so quickly... is it because you know that guy Lucas has your back?"
Sienna never expected him to still suspect her of cheating even now.
She looked up, meeting the eyes of the man behind the desk head-on.
The face she had loved for eight years now held nothing but mockery and disgust.
Grant's voice continued, every word laced with shards of ice.
"What did he give you? What gave you the guts to betray me?"
"Tell me, how much is he paying to keep you? Let me see exactly how much he's willing to spend on damaged goods like you."
The words 'damaged goods' acted like poisoned needles, plunging violently into Sienna's heart.
A massive wave of humiliation and heartbreak crashed over her, instantly flooding her eyes with a burning, bitter heat.
Yet she gritted her teeth, forcing herself to remain calm and refusing to let the tears fall.
Time stretched endlessly in the dead-silent office.
A loud crash echoed behind her, the sound of something being violently swept off the desk.
She didn't look back.
Her heart had already been shattered by his own hands. Hearing one more crash was just adding another broken piece.
Stepping out of the CEO's office, the heavy doors clicked shut behind her, completely isolating the man's fury.
Just as Sienna was preparing to head back to the villa to pack her things, a figure drifted over in a cloud of perfume.
Zoey crossed her arms, looking down at her with arrogance.
"Oh, you're finally back? I thought you died out there."
Sienna ignored her, reaching for her water bottle.
With a loud smack, Zoey dropped a massive stack of folders right into her arms.
"Ms. Zeller said your unexcused absence caused a lot of trouble for everyone. These are the old backlogged files. You have to sort and input every single one of them today."
Several coworkers peeked over, their faces plastered with gleeful smirks.
