Sienna looked up at Zoey's smug face.

She suddenly found it hilarious.

With less than thirty days left in her life, why was she wasting time dealing with these insufferable people?

So, she simply let go, and the files crashed to the floor.

Zoey's face turned livid, her features twisting in pure rage.

"Sienna, do you have a death wish?"

"I quit."

Two simple words, spoken neither too lightly nor too heavily, yet they landed clearly in everyone's ears.

The area fell dead silent.

Zoey froze for a second before bursting into an exaggerated laugh.

"Did the sun rise in the west today? You're giving up your chance to get close to Mr. Gauthier so easily? Or did you find a better way to seduce him?"

"You bring up Grant every single time we speak. The one who really wants to seduce him is you."

Zoey looked like a struck nerve had been hit, her voice jumping an octave. "What nonsense are you spewing?"

"You know perfectly well whether it's nonsense or not." With that, Sienna couldn't be bothered with them anymore and walked straight toward the door.

Crossing her arms, Zoey spat haughtily, "Sienna, do you think you own this company? You think you can just come and go as you please?"

Someone nearby chimed in. "Yeah. You have to submit your resignation a month in advance. Those are the rules."

Zoey tilted her chin even higher.

"Did you hear that? You can leave, but only after you finish all this work."

Her voice was shrill, practically dripping with the delight of a petty tyrant.

"And then you have to obediently work for another month. Otherwise, you're disrespecting the Gauthier family, and Mr. Gauthier will blacklist you."

A faint smile tugged at the corner of Sienna's lips, but the amusement didn't reach her eyes. They were as cold as winter frost.

"Rules?"

Right at that moment.

"Ding—"

The elevator doors nearby slid open.

The sound of laughter drifted over, a sweet female voice laced with familiar intimacy.

"Madeline, please stop teasing me. Grant insisted on buying this necklace for me."

Sienna's footsteps jerked to a halt.

She saw Lyla Lennox walking out of the elevator, intimately linking arms with an elegantly dressed woman.

The woman was impeccably maintained, her features bearing a striking resemblance to Grant.

It was his mother, Madeline Gauthier.

"Our Lyla is just naturally beautiful. You look gorgeous in anything, unlike certain people..."

Just then, their eyes locked onto Sienna.
