Grant's temple twitched.

His gaze shifted to the three Sawyers; Samuel was currently cowering behind Fiona, his eyes darting frantically between the two powerful men, wearing the pathetic look of someone entirely unsure of which side to take.

"Sienna is my wife. Her family's debts don't need an outsider like you interfering," Grant stated, keeping his voice low as if to avoid being overheard.

But the more he lowered his voice, the quieter the surroundings became, allowing every single word to fall perfectly into the ears of the crowd.

The words slipped out so instinctively that even he didn't realize he had just said 'my wife.'

It was the very first time he had ever referred to Sienna that way.

The entire lobby instantly exploded in shock.

"What! Mr. Gauthier is married?!"

"Since when? How did he keep it hidden so well?"

"Are those people seriously his in-laws? Why are they so different from what you'd expect?"

Lucas let out a cold scoff. "Your wife?"

He repeated the two words before lifting his chin, staring Grant down directly.

"In your heart, is Sienna actually your wife, or just a plaything you can toss aside whenever you please?"

"You don't deserve to even say her name."

The whispers in the lobby choked to a halt, every single person shooting bizarre, scrutinizing looks at Grant.

Grant's pupils contracted for a fraction of a second as a surge of rage rushed straight to his head. He took a step forward, his voice dangerously low.

"Lucas, you'd better get one thing straight. This is The Gauthier Group."

"I'm well aware." Lucas stood completely unbothered. "If you've got a problem with me, use whatever dirty tricks you want. The Lowery family isn't exactly easily intimidated."

Watching the two men argue more fiercely by the second, Samuel grew desperate, rubbing his hands together in terror that his thirty million dollars was about to fly away.

He shuffled closer to Lucas, offering a sycophantic smile. "Let's go, boss. Don't waste your breath on him."

Simon chimed in too, crossing his arms and throwing out sarcastic jabs.

"Grant, aren't you being a little cheap? The Gauthier Group is so massive, yet you can't even pull out thirty million? You're less loyal than a complete stranger."

Not long after Lucas and the others left, the incident exploded across the internet.

Even though the lobby's security footage was urgently wiped and the videos on the employees' phones were largely deleted within an hour, deleting files couldn't silence mouths.

By that afternoon, various exaggerated versions of 'The Gauthier Group Lobby Farce' were circulating through the elite circles of the city.

Some claimed Grant had married in secret and then abandoned his first wife, others said his in-laws showed up to collect a debt, and a few insisted Lucas had publicly slapped Grant in the face to stand up for the Sawyers.

The rumors grew wilder by the minute, but the core facts remained intact.

When the news finally reached Nathaniel's ears, he was having tea with a few old friends at a private club.

He set his teacup down against the table, the ceramic rim making a sharp, crisp clink.

Nathaniel didn't say a word, and the men drinking tea with him exchanged knowing glances, tactfully shifting the conversation.

Once everyone dispersed, Nathaniel sat alone in the private room, smoked half a cigarette, and then pulled up his phone's contacts.

He didn't call Grant; instead, he dialed Sienna.

When the call connected, Sienna was in her art studio.
