Inside the hospital room, Eleanor slowly regained consciousness.
The moment she opened her eyes, she didn't ask about her own health. Instead, she demanded:
"Where is Grant?"
Madeline immediately rushed to her bedside. "Mom, you're awake. You terrified us."
"He's at the office handling the crisis. I've already sent someone to get him."
"Tell him to get his ass back here immediately," Eleanor's voice was weak but carried an absolute, unyielding authority. "And tell him to bring Sienna with him."
Madeline blinked in shock. "Mom, look at the mess we are in. Why are you still worrying about that woman?"
"I said, tell him to bring Sienna," Eleanor closed her eyes. "I have questions for both of them."
When Grant received the call, he was sitting in the driver's seat of his car with Lyla beside him.
Hearing that his grandmother had passed out from anger, his hand tightened on the steering wheel.
Clara was crying on the other end. "Sir, please come home immediately. Madam specifically asked for you, and... and she wants you to bring your wife."
Grant furrowed his brows.
She wanted to see Sienna.
He should have expected this. His grandmother had always favored that woman, even going out of her way to back her up at the birthday banquet. Now that this had exploded, Sienna was still the first person on her mind.
A suffocating tightness settled in his chest.
He hung up the phone and leaned back against the leather seat.
"Grant, did I cause trouble for you?" Lyla asked softly, her eyes red and fearful.
"I never thought it would blow up like this. Should I go back and tell the reporters that you were just speaking out of anger?"
"No," Grant cut her off, resting one hand on the steering wheel.
He did feel an undeniable, suffocating frustration.
But it wasn't regret.
He just hated the feeling of losing control over the situation.
But Lyla...
Lyla had cried so hard during the chaos.
She had told him she never wanted to wreck anyone's marriage. She just loved him. She had loved him for years but was too terrified to say it.
She told him she was willing to shoulder all the blame, begging him only not to push her away because of the rumors.
When she looked at him with those eyes, his heart completely melted.
Exactly. What had he done wrong?
He had only protected the woman he loved.
Sienna was the one acting entirely out of line. Lucas was the one being an arrogant bastard. The media were the ones blowing everything out of proportion.
They were the ones in the wrong.
Whatever residual guilt he had been harboring vanished entirely, replaced by a reckless, absolute resolve.
Since everything was already out in the open, he would just bring Lyla straight to the Gauthier estate and force his family to accept her.
