I am on the edge of doing one of my most hidden, most taboo daydreams for real. My whole body is humming like a live wire.
***
When I walked into my condo at six, the first thing that stopped me cold was the bouquet. It was ridiculous in the best way–rainbow roses mixed with marigolds, daisies, sunflowers. One card rested against the stems.
Flowers for our beautiful princess. You deserve a whole field of them. They’re almost as gorgeous as you are. Please wear our gifts tonight. XOXO Milo and Jace
I scanned the coffee table for more and came up empty. In the kitchen, I dug a big vase out from under the sink, filled it halfway, and tipped in the packet of flower food. I took my time arranging everything
until it looked like something from a magazine, then carried it back out and set it dead center on the
table.

My grin didn’t even try to behave.
In my bedroom, I actually squealed. Presents were stacked on my bed like someone had staged a
photo shoot. Summer must have let them in.
On top of a box of chocolates sat a key.
My eyes went huge. Holy shit. It was like my key. It was Milo’s key.
My lips went dry so fast I had to lick them. What was that supposed to mean? Was this like the casual
key swap Summer and I had done, or was it… bigger? An invitation to move in? Natalie had been
spending time with Dylan lately–could she rent my place from me?
What am I doing? Am I actually considering living with Milo and Jace?
I set the key aside with shaking fingers and forced myself to look at the rest. Chocolates. A bag of
m&ms that made me snort when I saw the printed sayings. And–of course–dick–shaped lollies.
I barked a laugh. Then I opened the chocolates, chose a heart, and bit down.
I moaned. Chocolate and peanut butter exploded together like it was designed to ruin me.
Three more disappeared before I hit raspberry and then caramel, and by then my self–control was

already a joke. I wiped my fingers, breathed, and reached for the other gifts: two identical dark blue bags with Montclair’s Jewels stamped on the front.
My hands were trembling a little when I lifted out a long, wide rectangle box. The lid came up and I
sucked in a breath.
A diamond tennis bracelet and a matching diamond anklet lay nestled inside, throwing sharp little flashes of light. I covered my mouth on instinct.
No man had ever bought me jewelry that wasn’t tied to an engagement or a wedding–except my dad, and those had been pretty costume pieces. This wasn’t costume anything. This was real. This was
thousands.
There is no way I can wear these, right?
What if I lose them?
But the note had said to wear their gifts. How do I say no to that? It would feel like rejecting them. Like hurting them. And I didn’t want to do that.
I closed the first box and pulled the second bag closer. Inside was a smaller box. I flipped it open and
gasped all over again.
A delicate diamond butterfly on a thin gold chain.
My eyes stung before I could stop it. These two men were so generous it made my chest hurt. They
made me feel chosen. Wanted.
I put both jewelry boxes back in the bags, then bounced to my dresser for breakaway panties. I yanked open the drawer–then paused, frowning.
I had way more underwear in here this morning.
I went to my closet for the outfit I had planned and froze so hard it felt like my muscles locked.
Half my clothes were gone.
The outfit I’d meant to wear was still hanging on the door like a taunt, but almost all of my tops had
vanished. Only three pairs of pants hung there. Every skirt was missing.
Shoes? Every single pair lined up like normal.
That made it weirder.
I grabbed my outfit and hurried into the bathroom–and my stomach dropped.
Nothing.

<Chapter 58
My counter was bare. My drawers were empty. No products. No brushes. No anything.
I set my clothes down and stared like the room might explain itself.
What the hell is going on?
I snatched up my phone and started a new thread with both Milo and Jace.
Hello my guys. Thank you so much for the flowers and gifts. You have made my day. Quick question, where are my things?
Хохо
My Jace: They may or may not be in our condo. xoxo
My Milo: And they may or may not be hanging in our closet, and you may or may not have a drawer in our dresser. Also, somehow, your bathroom stuff ended up in our bathroom. Xoxo
Where are you guys? I need to get ready.
My Milo: We’re out to dinner.
So they weren’t home.
Good.
I gathered my outfit, both jewelry bags, and Milo’s key. I grabbed a small purse and slid in my I.D.,
debit card, club card–and left room for the key.
Then I drove to Milo’s condo and let myself in.
My purse hit the couch. Everything was exactly where they’d hinted it would be. I snorted. Subtle, they
were not.
And yet… I kind of loved it.
The fact they had carved out space for me–closet, drawer, bathroom–made something inside me go
soft and warm.
I showered fast, blinking when I saw my shampoo and conditioner lined up beside theirs like it had
always been that way. When I got out, I braided my hair into Dutch braids. My makeup stayed light: a
clean line of eyeliner, mascara, and a pink–gloss mouth.
Then I stepped into the tear–away panties.
