Chapter 79
Scar’s POV
Dear Diary,
Letting It Slip.
***
With my stomach in knots, I dialed my parents.
“Scar!” my mom shrieked like I’d just walked into the room.
“Hey, Mama. How’re you doing?”
“Oh, we’re fine. Your papa and I are coming for Thanksgiving,” she said, brisk and pleased. “Are we having dinner at your new place?”
“Uh… not exactly,” I hedged. “We’re going to my boyfriend’s mom’s house.”
A beat.
“You have a boyfriend?” she asked, delighted.
From somewhere in the background my dad barked, “She has a boyfriend already?”
“Yeah,” I said, deciding to rip the bandage off. “I actually have two.”
Silence, and then my mom–shocked but not horrified. “Two boyfriends, Scar?”
I glanced toward the living room. Jace and Milo were locked onto Sunday night football, completely oblivious to my impending family announcement.
My dad’s voice sharpened as I heard him take the phone. “Explain what you mean by two.”
“I mean two,” I said calmly. “Milo and Jace. And they treat me like royalty.”
“As they damn well should,” he said, still cautious. “Are we supposed to meet them?”
“Yes,” I answered. “And, Papa… they’re together too.”
His breath hissed through the line. “Scar, what kind of mess have you stepped into?”
I exhaled hard. “It’s not a mess. I met Milo, and we clicked. He introduced me to Jace, and it clicked
there too. We’re in a relationship–three of us. A throuple.”
<Chapter 79
“A throuple,” my dad repeated, like he was testing the word for poison.
My mom shouted, gleeful, “Oh! I know what that is! I have books with throuples. Very… spicy.”
“Mama!” I burst out laughing, the sound spilling out of me before I could stop it. I could hear my dad muttering something scandalized at her, and it only made me grin wider.
“I can hear you, Papa,” I warned.
“Then stop listening, hija,” he grumbled.
I covered my mouth, still giggling.
“You’re going to behave when you meet them,” I said.
His tone went quieter. “Are they serious to you?”
“More than serious,” I said, the words coming out steady. “I’ve never felt this way, Daddy. Not even
with Brennan. They’re… everything. The air in my lungs.”
My mom’s voice softened. “Aw, Scar. That sounds like love.”
“It is,” I told them. “It’s big, and it’s real. They’re the great loves of my
life.”
“I’ve never heard you talk like that,” my dad said.
“Because I’ve never had anyone worth talking about like this,” I replied.
Another pause, then his voice turned decisive. “Fine. I’ll be civil.”
I relaxed a fraction.
“But if either one hurts you,” he continued, deadly calm, “I won’t hesitate to hurt them. And Brennan?
I’m still going to hurt Brennan. I just haven’t picked the method.”
“Papa,” I groaned. “Let him go. He doesn’t matter to me anymore. I barely think about him.”
“He hurt my little girl,” my dad said, like that was the end of the discussion.
“I love you,” I murmured.
“I love you too, hija. Now,” he said, abruptly switching gears, “what else is going on in your life?”
“I got a job,” I said. “I’m the personal chef for the local fire station. And I ran into Uncle Hale.”
“You saw Haldrin?” my dad asked.
My mom erupted in the background. “You saw your godfather?”

“He lives here,” I said. “He has his own tattoo shop.”
“Well, look at him settling down,” my dad said, sounding genuinely impressed.
“You’ll probably see him at Thanksgiving,” I added.
“Excellent,” my dad said, and I could hear my mom clapping like this was the best news she’d gotten
all month.
“He said he was going to call you,” I told them.
“Then I’ll be waiting,” my dad said.
“I have to go,” I said. “Love you, Papa. Love you, Mama.”
They returned their I–love–you’s, and I hung up, then headed into the living room and dropped between
my two guys on the couch.
***
About an hour later, I told them I needed to run out and stock up for next week’s meals. I wanted
enough for a full Thanksgiving dinner for the other shift, plus what I needed for my pies.
Milo and Jace both stood like they were on a timer.
“I’m fine,” I insisted, grabbing my keys. “I can handle a grocery store alone.”
They didn’t love it, but they let me go.
I filled my cart with ingredients for homemade pizza and ravioli first, then started gathering everything
for turkey day. I was halfway down an aisle when voices carried from the next row over–too loud to
ignore, even if I wanted to.
“Come on, Maren,” a man whispered aggressively. “Hurry up, I want to be inside you.”
“Gavin, shh,” she hissed. “You’re not quiet.”
“I can get louder,” he shot back. “I want that sweet pussy.”
Maren’s frustration cut through the shelves. “You know what? I feel like that’s all you care about. We
never just do things. It’s always sex. Always.”
“That’s bullshit,” Gavin said. “We go out. We eat out all the time. We hang with the girls and Scar’s
guys.”
“And it still ends with us having sex,” Maren snapped.

“So?” he demanded. “You’re insanely hot.”
I tried–really tried–to keep rolling past, but they were basically broadcasting. I turned my cart into
their aisle.
Maren saw me immediately. Gavin stood there with his arms crossed, staring at her like he couldn’t
make the math work.
“Hey,” I said, awkwardly cheerful. “Hi, you two.”
Gavin’s posture changed the second he recognized me; his arms dropped.
“Scar,” he said quickly. “Maren told me what happened. Are you okay?”
“I’m more than okay,” I said, and lifted my hand to show the ring, then angled my wrist so my tattoo
was visible. “Look.”
His eyes went wide. “Holy shit. You tattooed their names?”
“I did,” I said. “They got mine too–on their chests.”
Maren’s voice softened with something wistful. “That’s… actually really romantic.”
I clocked the longing underneath her words and wondered, not for the first time, whether Gavin had
ever made her feel chosen.
“So,” I asked, “what are you guys doing? Shopping?”
Maren nodded, too fast. “Yeah. Dinner stuff.”
The air felt thick. I hated it.
“Okay,” I said, cutting through it. “I don’t know what’s happening with you two, but you’re making me
uncomfortable.”
That was all it took.
Maren’s complaints poured out like she’d been holding her breath for weeks. Gavin only wanted sex.
There was no romance. No dates, no effort. She felt hidden–like he didn’t want to be seen with her. They met up, they slept together, and then that was it
Gavin stared at her, mouth open, like he’d just been slapped.
He tried to speak, got stuck on the first word, then turned sharply and walked away.
“Gavin!” Maren shouted after him.

I watched him go, then looked back at her. “Maren. Do you actually like him? Like–really like him?”
“Yes,” she said, exasperated and earnest all at once. “That’s why I want something real. Like what you, Milo, and Jace have. You guys are… pure love. Everyone can see it.”
I tilted my head. “That sounded a lot like jealousy.”
“It is,” she admitted, eyes flashing. “Because all we do is fuck. I want to be taken out. I want dinner
and effort. Flowers would be nice.”
“And you’ve told him that clearly?” I asked.
She winced. “Not… clearly. I’ve hinted.”
“Maren,” I said gently, “men aren’t mind readers. You have to be direct. Sit him down. Talk like adults- no screaming. Just say what you need.”
Her shoulders slumped. “You’re right. I’m PMSing and I dumped it on him.”
“Then go get your man,” I urged. “You don’t want him storming off and letting the first sympathetic girl
rewrite his whole night.”
She crossed her arms, stubborn returning. “If he’s that easy to sway, then I don’t need him.”
I shook my head. Gavin was a good guy. Maren was a good girl. I wanted them to stop wounding each other long enough to actually hear what was being said.

I finished loading up my groceries and headed home. Normally I didn’t pick up calls while driving.
Then I saw Milo’s name.
My mouth pulled into a stupid, instant smile, and I hit answer.
“Hey, beautiful,” he panted. “Can you grab more lube?”
“Milo,” I said, instantly concerned, “are you okay?”
“Yessss,” he hissed.
And that’s when it clicked–he wasn’t out of breath from running.
“What’s Jace doing to you, sweetheart?” I asked, piling on an innocent tone I absolutely did not mean.
“He’s sucking my dick, baby,” Milo said, wrecked and unapologetic.

<Chapter 79
A needy sound slipped out of me before I could swallow it.
“Tell me,” I breathed.
“He’s taking me deep,” Milo said. “I’m almost hitting the back of his throat. Fuck. His tongue’s circling my shaft and then he’s sucking so hard-”
Heat flooded me so fast I almost swerved. My panties were already ruined, my body reacting like it knew exactly what was happening on the other end of the line.
I pulled over while Milo kept talking–Jace’s hand working his balls, Jace’s head moving faster, the wet sounds in the background, a small gag that made Milo swear.
My hand slid under my skirt and into my underwear. I found my clit and rubbed hard, chasing the edge while Milo’s voice went rough.
“Fuck,” I gasped. “I’m so close.”
“Are you touching yourself?” Milo asked, voice shaking. “Come for me, beautiful. Come with me.”
My head hit the headrest as my orgasm snapped through me, my moan loud in the quiet car.
On the phone, Milo cursed and then shouted, pleasure spilling over.
I stared up at the ceiling of my car, breathless and stunned.
My first phone sex experience had been–God. So hot.
