Chapter 566 Body Found
It was confirmed—the deceased was Jennifer.
* Fimohed,
Bruce, who had been tense the whole time, finally let himself breathe a little casier. He’d rushed back without stopping to report directly to Eugene.
“The body was in bad shape–mostly from being tossed into the ocean and then picked apart by sea creatures. The face was ruined, but you could still make out enough of her features to tell it was her,” Bruce explained, keeping his voice low. “Cause of death was a gunshot to the head. One shot, clean and fatal. Whoever did it placed it right between the eyes–looks like professional work.”
Arthur shivered when he heard that. Jennifer had been taken out with a single bullet.
Landon’s expression darkened briefly before settling back into calm.
“For a woman that rotten, getting off this easy is more than she deserved. If this were some old- school crime drama, someone that twisted wouldn’t have made it past the opening credits,” Landon remarked, throwing a glance toward Arthur without much concern for his feelings.
Eugene looked at Bruce and asked calmly, just two words, “Time frame?”
Bruce gave a nod. “Time of death was about a day ago. Based on when she slipped off our radar, it was probably within five hours after that.”
“Mm,” Eugene responded softly, his mind clearly working.
Landon frowned, growing restless. “So let me get this straight–you didn’t marry Jennifer. She failed to marry you, which means her mission was a bust. And when you fail… you die. Is that what happened here?” Landon spread his hands. As unexpected as it was, it seemed like the only explanation that fit.
It looked like everyone was starting to connect the dots behind the scenes.
Jennifer hadn’t survived out of luck—someone had saved her, changed her appearance, and sent her to get close to Eugene with a job to do. Too bad Eugene, stubborn as a rock, only had eyes for the real Chloe. No matter how well Jennifer disguised herself, Eugene never looked her way twice.
Failed the mission, and she was done.
“One shot, straight through. The other side isn’t playing around. A pawn outlives its usefulness -looks like whoever’s pulling the strings is even colder than Jennifer was.” Landon shrugged, stealing a glance at Eugene before deciding to drop it.

Arthur’s face was grim. Jennifer was gone, and in such a way. There was nothing left for him to chase.
“Where’s the body now?” Arthur asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
“At the hospital morgue, pending arrangements,” Bruce replied flatly.
“Thanks. I’ll take care of the rest.” Arthur gave a short nod to Eugene and Landon, then turned to leave.
Watching Arthur’s lonely figure walk away, Landon let out a sigh. “Living like that… honestly, it’s just sad. All that time wasted. Now that he wants to turn things around, everything’s already changed.”
Eugene looked over at Bruce, who was still standing nearby, and spoke seriously, “Start the search from the stretch of water where Jennifer’s body was found. Widen the radius and look for anythi useful.”
