Chloe only wanted to leave.
Anywhere was fine, as long as Vincent was not there.
If she stayed near him any longer, she was afraid her patience would snap.
"Without Eugene, you don't even care about yourself anymore, do you?" Vincent asked in a quiet voice.
Chloe said nothing.
That one sentence struck exactly where she had been trying to hide.
In her mind, Eugene was gone.
And she was only still breathing because of the agreement she had made with Vincent.
She would finish the wedding.
That was all.
After that, she had no intention of staying in this world that had lost him.
Vincent hated seeing her like this.
He had spent years shaping her into what she was.
And now, for one man, she was ready to give up everything?
How could she become this weak?
That was not the Clo-Clo he knew.
His gaze turned colder.
"If you dare disappear from this world like that, I won't let that man rest either."
His voice was icy.
"I'll disturb even what he left behind."
Chloe finally looked at him.
Displeasure flashed across her eyes.
"Then try it, Vincent."
Her tone was cold and calm.
"After the wedding, our debt will be settled."
"From then on, there will be nothing between us."
"If you insist on provoking me again, I don't mind dragging you down with me."
Vincent walked closer.
In the mirror, he saw Chloe's eyes.
They were calm.
Too calm.
The light that once lived in them had vanished completely.
She looked less like a living person and more like something hollow.
How had his Clo-Clo become like this?
"So you want to go to him that badly?"
Vincent stared at her.
"You don't care about anything else anymore?"
Chloe still did not answer.
She did not even move.
"Not even your son?"
His expression became serious.
"And what about the man from six years ago?"
"The man from that accidental night."
"You don't want to know who he was?"
At last, Chloe's eyes changed.
It was only for a moment, but Vincent caught it.
"My dear Clo-Clo."
He lifted a strand of her hair gently.
"If you keep treating your life as something worthless, I really will get angry."
Chloe stood still.
She let him stand behind her, though the disgust in her eyes did not fade.
