He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 130

Chapter 130

(Daisy’s POV)

He had been gone for several minutes now but the apartment felt wrong without him in it.

Too quiet.

Too still.

Like something had been ripped out of the space and now the walls themselves were awkward about it.

I sat there on the couch for what felt like forever, staring at absolutely nothing while my chest kept aching in this stupid, heavy way I

didn’t know how to fix.

Lillian still wasn’t back yet.

So it was just me.

Me and silence. And unfortunately… my thoughts.

Which were terrible company.

I pressed both palms against my face and groaned quietly.

“Oh my God,” I muttered into my hands. “Why would I say that?”

Because now the words kept replaying.

“You are of no importance to me…”

“There’s nothing between us…”

“I want you to leave.”

I squeezed my eyes shut.

Okay.

This is bad.

What did I say all those things?

And the worst part?

He had looked hurt.

Not angry or cold.

Hurt.

That was the part currently ruining my stability.

Because DeLuca rarely looked affected by anything. He always looked controlled and calm. Like nothing could properly touch him.

But this time-something had crossed his face.

Something quieter.

Smaller.

And that made me feel terrible now, without option.

I dropped my hands from my face and stared ahead again.

“I could’ve handled that better,” I whispered.

Or not handled it at all.

That option was also available.

I should’ve just kept quiet. I should’ve just let things stay the way they were.

Because somehow I had taken an already dangerous situation and detonated it.

Fantastic.

Very impressive work from me.

I stood up now and started pacing the living room.

“What do I do?” I asked aloud. Then immediately answered myself.

“Call him.”

I stopped.

“…No. He definitely won’t pick.”

Obviously.

I had basically looked into his face and stabbed him with words.

I resumed pacing.

“Okay then I’ll go after him.”

I paused again.

“… I can’t. He left like twenty minutes ago.”

Another turn.

Another breath.

“I could go to the mansion where I had met his father.”

I stopped walking immediately, then shook my head.

“No. Terrible idea. Horrific idea.”

Especially because his father would still be there and would definitely plant a bullet in me with any chance he got.

That man looked like someone who collected human fear as a hobby.
