“You can’t be serious.”

“I am.”

We were in the hallway and I stared at Aria in complete disbelief while students moved around us loudly, roughly and dramatically committed to education.

Or pretending to be.

Mostly pretending.

“You want to become the third wheel in whatever this weird thing between Adrian and Mabel is?” I asked.

“For a moment,” Aria corrected casually. “Before I fully decide what to do.”

Then she smiled.

“But before that happens, I can still enjoy benefits.”

I just stared at her.

The crazy thing was that she genuinely sounded logical to herself.

Meanwhile I was one conversation away from collapsing into decorative gloom.

“I could still steal him from her, you know,” she added confidently.

“What exactly do you want me to do?” I asked weakly.
