Chapter 92
{Daisy’s POV)
I killed my question there and then before it could form.
And my realization made me stand there like I had lost touch of reality. And the distressing part was that as much as I wanted to lie
to myself, I couldn’t.
That part of me that felt it, felt it as the truth. So I just remained there speechless and conflicted.
DeLuca waited for a second before speaking.
“Are you okay?”
“Yes,” I said immediately I heard his voice. Too swiftly.
“I’m fine. Completely fine.”
That should have fixed it. But I didn’t feel like it did.
He looked at me for a moment before saying very calmly, “Then why are you standing in the doorway blocking my path?”
With that, I looked down to where I was standing to understand that he was right.
Then back up.
Oh.
I was.
I stepped aside quickly, my hand brushing against the wall as if I’d intended to move and forgot.
“I was just leaving.”
“Mm.”
He nodded once and walked past me like that was the end of it. Which it could have been.
But then-
“I had a long day,” he added as he moved further into the room. “There was an orientation after training.”
“I’m not implying anything.” He checked something on his phone, “But if that’s the conclusion you’ve reached, I can’t stop you.”
I stared at him in disbelief. He turned and started walking away.
Oh no.
Absolutely not!
“Don’t you dare walk out from me!”
He stopped.
