He Didn’t Kidnap Me. Not Exactly novel Chapter 93

Chapter 93

“That sounds efficient, though right- one man team is still a team.” I tried smiled hopefully.

He reached his office, opened the door, walked in, and closed it. Right in my face.

I stood there, breathing heavily and staring at the door as though, if I looked enough it would slide open for me.

It didn’t.

I bent slightly, hands on my knees, catching my breath.

Okay.

That was… productive.

I straightened after a moment, pushing my hair back and exhaling.

So.

No lesson. No supervision.

Just… me.

And math. Which felt like a failed mission already.”

I adjusted my bag and turned toward the library because, obviously, the logical next step was to go sit in front of numbers that obviously disliked me and keep trying.

DeLuca was wrong. I wasn’t dumb or dumb overwhelmed with academics.

With my resolve, I started on my way but then a group of boys passed by putting on training gear, cleats and energy.

They were heading in one direction. The field. And seeing them, I slowed.. because I remembered.

“You should come to the field tomorrow.”

I stared after them for a second.

No

I’m not going there because of him.

That s ridiculous.

I have things to do. Important things, but then I sighed.

“I’ll just check for a few minutes and leave.” I said to myself.

That was reasonable. Completely reasonable.

I turned and started toward the field and as I did, something was different.

I noticed it immediately.

Before I even got close enough to see what was happening, I could hear it. The noise; louder and denser.

Like the entire school had decided overnight that this was the only place worth being.

… when I reached the edge of the field, the difference became obvious.

The crowd had doubled.

Students packed the sides, voices overlapping and reactions spilling over one another, It felt less like training and more like an event.

It was a confusing scene.

I shifted, trying to find a place where I could actually see what was happening, weaving carefully through small gaps until I managed to stand where I had a partial view.

At first, I saw Nathan.

He was moving, running, engaging exactly like he always did. Strong, fast, confident; the kind of performance people usually reacted

But the reaction wasn’t centered on him. The noise wasn’t following him. It was following someone else.

DeLuca.
