He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 136

Caspian took a few deep breaths but stayed silent.

There was something heavy weighing on his mind.

Especially after seeing the young nurse, Stella, tonight.

He had been brooding the entire car ride back, his temper simmering just beneath the surface.

Trading barbs with Seraphina had provided a brief distraction, a momentary escape from his own head.

But as reality settled back in, the atmosphere around him grew suffocatingly dense once more.

"Seriously, leave me alone," Caspian said, his voice turning cold. "Just let me be for a while. Stop bothering me."

His tone carried his usual sharp venom, but beneath it lay an almost imperceptible undercurrent of exhaustion and frustration. It was as if he had a chest full of rage with nowhere to direct it, so he was reflexively pushing back against Seraphina's attempt to help.

Seraphina's hand paused. She looked down at him, her gaze crystal clear and utterly calm. There was no ripple of offense, as though she had fully expected this reaction.

She didn't withdraw her hand. Instead, she pressed down firmly on his arm—not hard enough to hurt, but with enough leverage that he couldn't pull away. Her tone was sharp and unapologetic. "If you want to die, go ahead and do it. No one is stopping you. But who exactly is this pathetic, self-destructive performance for?"

Caspian went rigid, his frustrated expression instantly morphing into a glare of genuine anger.

He shot a hostile look at her, his words biting. "Do you treat Pierce like this too? No wonder he didn't want you anymore. What man doesn't want someone gentle and considerate? You work in a hospital all day long, yet you talk to people like dirt. Who could tolerate you?"

The moment the words left his mouth, he knew he had crossed a line.

But his pride had always been his worst enemy. A simple apology caught in his throat, so he merely stole a hesitant glance at her.
