He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 29

Silas kept his voice level. "Did you need something from her?"

"Did she lose her voice?"

Silas frowned, his displeasure obvious. "Mr. Prescott, Seraphina is still your wife. Is it really necessary to speak to her with such hostility?"

"My wife?" Pierce scoffed loudly. "If you hadn't reminded me, I would have completely forgotten I even had one."

Seraphina held out her hand. "Silas, let me have it."

Silas looked worried. "Are you sure?"

"I have nothing left to say to him anyway. He's probably just calling about the divorce paperwork."

Silas finally nodded and handed the phone back.

Seraphina pressed the phone to her ear, her voice emotionless. "What do you want?"

"Are you and Silas living together now?"

"...Is that any of your business?"

"Seraphina, we aren't divorced yet. Do you think it's appropriate for you to be living with another man?"

Seraphina let out a cold laugh. "What about you? You brought another woman into our marital home and are living with her. Do you think that's appropriate?"

Thinking they were about to start screaming at each other, Silas quickly leaned in and whispered, "Seraphina, don't get worked up. You'll tear your stitches. Just talk to him calmly."

Seraphina's tone remained utterly composed. "I'm not angry. I'm just stating facts."

Pierce heard Silas's voice in the background and sneered. "He's so gentle with you, isn't he?"

"He treats me better than you ever did. Pierce, it's late. What exactly do you want? If you have nothing important to say, I'm hanging up—"

"Get back here."

Seraphina instantly went on high alert. "Why?"

"Your cousin is here."

"Sienna? It's the middle of the night... why is she looking for me there?"

"She hit Lyra."

Seraphina had lived with her aunt for six years, and both her aunt and Uncle Alaric had treated her decently enough.
