The video showed his nine years with Stella.
There were scenes of him getting injured playing basketball in high school, and Stella, with red–rimmed eyes, chiding him for being “careless” and saying he “deserved it“, while her hands were incredibly gentle as she cleaned his wound and applied medicine.
There were scenes of him winning a speech competition in college, and her in the audience, her eyes filled with more pride and starlight than all the lights on the stage.
There were scenes of their secret dates, of her laughing and playfully hitting his shoulder when he teased her, so full
of life.
There was the moment at their wedding when she said “I do” before the priest, a tear of happiness slipping from the
corner of her eye.
And there were countless snippets of their daily life: the focused look on her face as she played the piano, the quiet way she would curl up on the sofa with a book, the little pout she’d make when pretending to be angry that he’d forgotten an anniversary, only to break into a smile the moment he gave her a gift…
The video’s soundtrack was melancholic and deeply romantic, and the comments below were heart–wrenching:
“Nine years, how many nine years does a person get in their life?”
“From high school sweethearts to husband and wife, did it really have to end like this?”
“Who did Felix fall for? Who could possibly be better than Stella Winter?”
“So the rich can fall in love too, it just disappears…”
“@FelixVance, those who betray a true heart deserve to swallow ten thousand needles!”
SLAM!
Felix slammed the laptop shut. His chest felt constricted, as if something was blocking his airway, making it hard to breathe!
A strange, sharp pain suddenly pierced through him. He irritably loosened his tie, trying to banish the images and sounds from his mind.

Chapter 12
To prove to himself that his choice was right, and to give Hazel a proper status, Felix began taking her to business dinners.
However, her debut was a complete disaster.
Hazel had never been in such a grand setting and was a nervous wreck. When faced with an important overseas client, she accidentally spilled her red wine on his expensive suit.
She panicked, stammering out a clumsy, vulgar apology that drew stares from everyone around them. The client’s face was grim.
Felix had to suppress his annoyance and repeatedly step in to smooth things over and apologize, feeling exhausted by the end of it.
He could clearly feel the strange looks and whispers from the people around them.
“Mr. Vance’s new flame, compared to the former Mrs. Vance, she’s really…”
“Shh… keep it down. The difference is like night and day.”
“Miss Winter used to be the star of every event, her conversation and elegance were impeccable. This one… she’s just not presentable.”
These comments were like fine needles, pricking not just his ears, but his heart.
