Chapter 14
Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, three years had passed.
On the giant screen in the central plaza, a promotional photo of a beautiful actress was displayed. Her eyes were bright, her smile dazzling and confident, incredibly infectious.
Below the screen, a small line of text in two languages read: The Young Best Actress–Louise.
On a film set not far away, I spread my arms and, with a clean, sharp movement, swung a sword on the stunt wires, my expression cool and heroic.
“Cut!” The director shouted through a megaphone, his eyes sparkling. “Louise, your acting is getting more and more natural.”
“This new movie is sure to be a critical and commercial success!”
I quickly unhooked my safety harness and smiled. “I owe it all to you, director.”
After a few casual compliments, I headed to the dressing room to change.
I walked out in my most comfortable casual clothes and saw a man, nearly a head taller than me, standing at the door, as if he had been waiting for a while.
When he saw me, he smiled and walked over. “Louise, do you have any other plans for tonight?”
rolled my eyes and asked, “What, are you asking me out?”
The man nodded and admitted freely, “That’s right. Would you do me the honor of having dinner with me? It won’t take up too much of your time.”
learing this, I looked up and studied him carefully.
Lis name was Rhys Duncan, a well–known local rich kid.
While he was pursuing me, he had put away his usual carefree attitude, acting like a gentleman, attentive to detail, and never crossing any lines.
light drizzle fell on my hand, feeling slightly cool, but I didn’t feel cold at all. In fact, I felt a rush of excitement.
Okay,” I said softly. “I’ll go with you.”
s night fell, the lights of the revolving restaurant in the sky were particularly striking.
was surrounded by panoramic floor–to–ceiling windows, complete with telescopes, offering a bird’s–eye view of the entire city.
hys skillfully ordered a few of my favorite dishes, not forgetting to add at the end, “Extra onions and garlic, no ginger.”
gave him a helpless look. “You remember that pretty well.”
hys nodded matter of factly. “Of course I have to remember what the girl I like can’t eat.”
1 first, I would shy away from his rather direct expressions. But over time, I came to see it as part of his charm, and I got used to it.
1st then, the surrounding lights went out, and the pre lit candles suddenly glowed, adding a touch of romance.
waiter pushed a cart over, placing various dishes and a lavender honey birthday cake on the table.
melling the familiar scent, I froze. “We didn’t order a cake.”
ist as I was about to ask Rhys for an explanation, o sudden bang outside the window caught my attention.
n the inky black sky, brilliant fireworks shot upwards, forming the word “SCARLETT“.

Rhys’s eyes were shining. “Louise–no, Scarlett. Happy birthday.”
Birthday?
I was a little dazed for a moment.
