He Gave Her Strawberries, Gave Me Hives (Ford and Sylvia) novel Chapter 187

Chapter 18

Theodore couldn’t hold back any longer. He lunged forward, trying to grab her hand.

As if she had eyes in the back of her head, Evelyn deftly sidestepped him just before he could touch her.

She turned, looking at him coldly, her eyes like she was looking at an annoying stranger.

Mr. Harrison, please have some selfrespect. This is Ashworth Corporation, not a place for you to act out.Her voice was calm and even, but carried an andeniable distance.

Evelyn! Stop this!Theodore, seeing her cold demeanor, became flustered and lost control, his voice a low growl. I know you hate met I was wrong! I know everything now! Come back with me! Let’s start over, okay?

He tried to get closer again, his tone filled with an unprecedented humility and pleading.

Evelyn looked at him, and the corners of her mouth lifted into a faint, mocking sneer.

She stopped looking at him and spoke directly to the assistant waiting by the door. Show our guest out. Also, inform security that from now on, this Mr. Harrison is not to be allowed in the Ashworth Tower without a formal appointment.

Yes, Ms. Ross. The assistant replied respectfully, then stepped forward and made a this way, pleasegesture to Theodore, his manner polite but firm.

Theodore’s eyes widened in disbelief.

How dare she treat him like this? In front of all these people, just have him shown out?

Evelyn! You!He was trembling with rage and wanted to say more, but two tall security guards had already entered, flanking him and all but forcibly escorting him from the conference room.

Theodore struggled, looking back to stare at Evelyn’s resolute back, until he was completely escortedout of the Ashworth Tower. Standing on the busy street, he finally came to his senses.

Jtterly humiliated. An unprecedented sense of shame washed over him.

But he realized that more than anger, what he felt was panic.

The cold, emotionless look in Evelyn’s eyes when she looked at him was more terrifying than any accusation.

Back at the hotel, Theodore paced his room like a caged animal.

He couldn’t accept Evelyn completely slipping from his grasp like this, humiliating him from such a superior position.

He started using all sorts of clumsy, even laughable methods to try and get her attention again, to prove he still existed to her.

He had people investigate the business sectors Evelyn was currently in charge of at Ashworth, then acquired a few insignificant small companies in those fields ind deliberately spread rumors that he was going to crush Ashworth Corporation

3ut a few days later, he would inexplicably concede profits, even secretly helping Ashworth’s projects along. His behavior was so erratic that even his assistant couldn’t figure it out.

He also tried to mimic the way Evelyn used to be good to him, anonymously ordering her favorite brand of flowers and limited edition jewelry and having them

sent to the Ashworth estate.

However, every time, the gifts were returned, unopened.

The Ashworth bufer would only politely and coldly relay the message. The young madam says she cannot accept gifts for no reason. Please, Mr. Harrison, keep them for yourself.
