Chapter 25
“Haha… hahaha…” Theodore suddenly burst into a manic laughter, laughing until tears streamed down his face. He violently swept everything off his desk–the computer, files, decorations–sending them crashing to the floor with a loud clatter.
“Evelyn! You’re ruthless! You’re so damn ruthless!” He roared like a desperate, cornered animal amidst the wreckage, finally collapsing to the floor in a heap, sobbing uncontrollably.
After this battle, rumors of Theodore’s complete ruin spread like wildfire. While Harrison Industries had deep enough roots to avoid actual bankruptcy, it was an undeniable fact that its power was greatly diminished and his personal authority was destroyed. But an even more unbearable blow was about to fall.
His contacts in the neighboring state sent word: the Ashworth family had arranged for treatment at a top international neurological institute. Evelyn would be accompanying Daniel, who was showing slight signs of regaining consciousness, to go abroad for intensive therapy and rehabilitation. They were scheduled to leave in three days.
Accompanying… going abroad… for treatment…
These words were like poison–dipped needles, stabbing viciously into Theodore’s heart.
They were leaving together! Going to a place he could never reach! Evelyn was going to disappear from his world completely!
No! He couldn’t let her go! Absolutely not!
Three days later, in the international airport’s departure hall.
Evelyn was pushing Daniel in a wheelchair. His eyes were still closed, but he looked a bit better. Adrian and several medical staff accompanied them as they >repared to check in.
Today’s Evelyn was dressed in a simple, elegant cream–colored suit. Her demeanor was sharp and composed, the fragility of her past long gone, replaced by a alm and steady gaze.
ust then, a figure rushed toward them like a whirlwind and, with a thud, fell to his knees directly in front of Evelyn.
t was Theodore.
lis hair was a mess, his eyes sunken, his face unshaven, and his suit was wrinkled. He looked nothing like the distinguished CEO of Harrison Industries he
nce was.
le clung desperately to Evelyn’s leg, ignoring the shocked stares and whispers of everyone around him, and begged through his tears.
Evelyn! Don’t go! Please, don’t go! I was wrong! I know I was wrong! It was all my fault! I’m a bastard! I’m an animal! You can punish me however you want! it me, curse me, kill me, I don’t care! Just don’t leave me! Please!”
is hoarse, desperate cries echoed through the spacious airport terminal, drawing an ever–growing crowd of onlookers who stopped to stare, take pictures, and
ecord videos.
velyn’s leg was trapped, and she couldn’t move. Her brow furrowed deeply, but her expression showed no emotion, only cold disgust. She tried to pull away. ut he only held on tighter.
Evelyn! I’ll die without you! I really will die!” Seeing that begging was useless. Theodore suddenly pulled a pocket knife from his coat, held it to his own throat, nd threatened her with a crazed look in his eyes. “If you dare to leave, I’ll die right here, right now! You’ll never be able to forget me for the rest of your lifer
his extreme act caused a wave of gasps from the crowd. Airport security quickly surrounded them.
velyn looked at his manic state, the disgust in her eyes reaching its peak. She stopped struggling and, lifting her head coldly, spake clearly to the security fficers who had rushed over.

Her voice was calm and even, as if stating a fact that had nothing to do with her.
Seeing the situation, the security guards immediately moved in, forcibly pulling the crazed Theodore off of Evelyn and taking the knife from his hand.
Evelyn! Evelyn! You can’t be so heartless! I love you! I really love you!” Theodore, held by the guards, continued to struggle and scream, tears and snot treaming down his face, a complete wreck.
But Evelyn didn’t even spare him another glance. She simply smoothed out the wrinkles in her clothes, gave Adrian a slight nod, and then, pushing Daniel’s wheelchair, walked calmly toward the security checkpoint without looking back.
Behind her, the sounds of Theodore’s desperate, animalistic howls as he was dragged away by security mingled with the pointing and murmuring of the crowd.
