He Gave Her Strawberries, Gave Me Hives (Ford and Sylvia) novel Chapter 195

Chapter 26

Evelyn and the Ashworth family had rented a private villa at a care facility, complete with its own courtyard. The environment was quiet and serene, with tight ecurity.

heodore didn’t dare get close, so he could only wander the streets outside the villa complex every day like a thief.

le was afraid to stay in a hotel, fearing Evelyn would find out and have him thrown out, so he curled up on a park bench at night. When he was hungry, be nawed on dry bread, when he was thirsty, he drank from public fountains.

n just over a dozen days, he had become gaunt and emaciated, with sunken eyes and ragged clothes. He smelled terrible and looked no different from the omeless people on the street.

The local police soon noticed this suspicious man who loitered in a specific area all day. They questioned him several times and almost arrested him as a otential threat.

heodore could only explain over and over in French that he was just looking for someone, which barely got him off the hook.

He would stare at the villa where she was staying, at the warm light that occasionally shone from the windows, and imagine Evelyn inside, taking care of Daniel. His heart felt like it was being roasted over a fire.

He remembered how, in the past, when his stomach hurt, Evelyn would always make him hot tea, when he worked late, she would make him a latenight snack, vhen he was in a bad mood, she would cook all his favorite dishes to cheer him up

A crazy idea popped into his head: he would be good to her too! Just like she used to be to him! Maybemaybe she would be moved?

And so, this young master of the Harrison family, who had never lifted a finger in his life and was used to being waited on, began to clumsily learn how to ook. He found a restaurant and begged the owner to teach him how to make simple tea and a few of the simple, home style dishes that Evelyn loved.

He burned his hands, getting several blisters, and cut his fingers while chopping vegetables, but he didn’t even notice.

A few days later, he finally managed to make a passable cup of tea and a patheticlooking plate of scrambled eggs with tomatoes. He carefully packed the food nto a cheap container and, as if carrying a priceless treasure, snuck up to the gate of Evelyn’s villa under the cover of night.

le didn’t dare ring the doorbell or knock. He just gently placed the container by the gate and then, like a thief, quickly hid behind some bushes nearby, his

eart pounding with both hope and fear as he waited.

The minutes ticked by.

he villa gate never opened.

t wasn’t until morning, when a maid came out to sweep the courtyard, that the cheap container was discovered. The maid frowned, picked it up without a econd glance, and threw it straight into the trash can on the street.

fiding in the bushes, Theodore watched as the food he had spent all night preparing, the food that carried all his humble hopes, was thrown away like garbage, le felt as if all the strength had been instantly drained from his body, and he collapsed to the ground.

t turned out he wasn’t even qualified to be her servant.

ust as Theodore was about to have a complete breakdown on the streets of this foreign country, an unexpected danger appeared.

Somehow, the news that Daniel was receiving treatment there had been leaked, attracting a local gang who coveted the Ashworth family’s wealth

They planned a carefully orchestrated kidnapping, their targets being Daniel and Evelyn.

One evening, Evelyn was taking her usual walk, pushing Daniel along a treelined path near the villa, with only two bodyguards following at a distance.

Suddenly, several black vans screeched to a halt, blocking their path. Seven or eight burly men, armed with dubs and wearing menacing expressions, jumapest aut and charged straight for Evelyn and Daniel.
