He Gave Her Strawberries, Gave Me Hives (Ford and Sylvia) novel Chapter 27

Chapter 7

I opened my eyes, sat up, and saw the needle mark on the back of my hand.

I shook my head to clear it, then got out of bed and headed for the door.

But my body still felt weak.

Walking out of the room, I saw the marble dining table set with fragrant dishes.

Hearing footsteps, I turned my head.

It was Cole Nash in light gray loungewear.

I clenched my fists.

Can I go home now?

I told your father I’d need to borrow you for about a month.

What?

He didn’t say anything else, just walked past me and sat down at the dining table.

I kept my voice cold, trying not to lose it completely.

But I have to work. I’m already going to be late.

Then he pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

Director Cross? Iris Kane from cardiopulmonary is taking a month off.

I was about to grab the phone and talk to the director myself.

But he’d already hung up.

Who the hell do you think you are, making decisions for me?

Cole Nash, you’re going too far.

He just glanced at me.

Because your family’s company lives or dies by my word. Is that reason enough?

I stumbled back a step.

Then Cole left for the office.

My phone was nowhere to be found.

I panicked, searching everywhere for it.

Chapter 7

Miss Kane, looking for your phone? Mr. Nash took it with him.

Hearing this, I rushed to the landline and tried calling Cole to get my phone back.

But he wouldn’t pick up.

I was furious.

Cole Nash had me under house arrest.

And there was nothing I could do about it!

A long time ago, they’d already clipped my wings. I couldn’t fly anymore.

Until one day, when Cole didn’t go to the office.

Wren came over too.

She must have known I was here because she looked pissed when she arrived.

She didn’t come inside.

Wren glanced at me bandaging a stray dog and nearly got into a fight with Cole.

No woman could stand having another woman in her fiancé’s house.

But this time, Cole didn’t seem to be unconditionally appeasing Wren.

His tall figure was ice cold.

Then Wren followed Cole upstairs.

Through the mansion’s glass windows, I could see them going all the way up.

I didn’t think much of it and kept petting the stray dog I was almost done bandaging.

Half an hour later, I walked back into the mansion.

Wren was just coming down the stairs.

I walked in without trying to avoid her.

Sure enough, she dropped her sweet act and slapped me across the face.

Bitch.

Her voice was loud.
