About half a month later, I finally went to see Finn Reed.
On his headstone, even in black and white, his photo was still handsome.
Whoever chose the photo had good taste.
The corners of his lips were slightly upturned in a smile.

Just sitting next to him made me feel so happy.

But I woke up at home.

I sat up.
Mom brought over the soup and was about to feed me.
I turned my head away.
“Mom, where’s Finn? I was just with him.”

My mom put down the bowl and wiped her eyes.
“David, Iris she…”
Dad put his arms around Mom.
But Mom just cried harder.
“It’s all our fault. Why didn’t we fight back then? Or I should have gone overseas with Iris.”
