Chapter 16
After taking three months off from the hospital, I went back to work.
My family was still worried about me.
But only when I was working did I feel like a normal person.
Even after work, I’d bury myself in the lab.
I didn’t care about anything happening in the outside world.
From what my parents told me, I learned that Cole Nash never got engaged to Wren Shaw.
The whole engagement announcement had something to do with some agreement, but it was canceled now.
The Shaw family was having a rough time–their stock was still delisted.
Wren’s father was even caught for money laundering and taken away.
Wren and her mother were planning to leave the country, but the police stopped them and they’re under house arrest for now.
My parents kept talking about it.
I stopped listening and went upstairs.
But Cole Nash seemed to have health problems constantly, showing up at our hospital every few days.
He didn’t book appointments with me though–always with other doctors.
Still, we’d run into each other at the hospital.
It was so annoying.
Especially when we made eye contact–I’d actually lose my appetite and not want lunch anymore.
But he still had no awareness, just staring at me for ages without looking away.
If I wasn’t wearing a white coat, I’d really want to punch someone like that.
On Christmas Day, I passed out while sleeping.
My door was locked from the inside too.
My parents suddenly got really panicked, found someone to pick the lock, and only relaxed when they saw I was just sleeping.
When I came to, I realized they were probably afraid I’d commit suicide.
How could they think that?
This life was given to me by Finn Reed.
Chapter 16
Even though my medical skills weren’t as good as his, staying alive meant I could still contribute something small to medicine.
I would never die.
Besides, someone like me really didn’t deserve to go see him.
I worked like crazy and studied non stop. My days were full.
Even my relationship with Cole Nash improved somewhat.
The reason was that during a check up, my dad was suddenly diagnosed with liver cancer and needed a transplant.
But when Mom and I got tested for compatibility, neither of us matched.
Unexpectedly, Cole Nash came forward to get tested.
