He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 279

Franklin's hands shook as he grabbed the mouse and pulled up the live trading feed.

On the screen, Flynn Group's stock chart looked like a sheer cliff face. The normally stable line was now a jagged, vicious red slash plunging straight to the bottom.

A massive flood of red sell orders overwhelmed the system like a burst dam. The flashing number on the screen was horrifying: -9.8%.

"Yardley! Get over here and look at this!"

Franklin snapped his head up, his chest heaving violently, his finger shaking as he pointed at the screen. "Look at what you've done!"

"The banks, our suppliers, the board... they are all watching us right now! You've always prided yourself on being in control. How did you let things get this bad?!"

"I don't care what you have to do—even if you have to get on your knees and beg—fix this! If you don't... the empire I built is going to die in your hands!"

Screaming those words seemed to drain every ounce of Franklin's strength. His asthma flared instantly. He collapsed into the chair, his face turning an alarming shade of purple as a sickening, wheezing sound tore from his throat.

Yardley stood frozen, his mind entirely blank.

It wasn't until he saw his father suffocating that he finally snapped out of it. Panicking, he scrambled through the desk drawers, found an inhaler, and shoved it into Franklin's mouth, pressing it down hard twice.

Franklin's breathing eased slightly, but he immediately grabbed Yardley's wrist, his nails digging into his skin.

"Go! Find out who's behind this! Right now!"

Yardley didn't say a word. He stood in silence for a few seconds, a dark, dangerous look crossing his eyes before he turned and walked out of the study with heavy steps.

Even with the catastrophic proof right in front of him, he refused to believe his meek, submissive ex-wife was capable of orchestrating this.

His first call was to Julian.

When Julian answered, his tone was so cold they sounded like strangers. He skipped the pleasantries entirely. "Speak."
