Chapter 150
Back in London, Brian was furious. The veins on his hand bulged as he clenched the diamond ring tightly, the cold edges cutting into his palm. Without another thought, he stormed out of the Wyatt Family’s mansion.\
His fingers trembled as he dialed his assistant’s number, calling him angrily, “Hay
you found Lilian yet?“>
The assistant’s voice came through, “Mr. Herbert, we only know that Miss Wyatt flew to Edinburgh yesterday. But after she got off the plane, she vanished. The airport surveillance only caught her getting into a taxi. We’re still tracking her route.“}
“Edinburgh…” Brian muttered, his pupils narrowing.
The Lloyd Family’s core business was in Edinburgh. Why would I go there? Could it be… I had gone to Mark Lloyd and agreed to a marriage alliance?
He didn’t even stop to think further.
“Prepare my car. I’ll go to Edinburgh by myself right now!”
“Mr. Herbert, please wait!” the assistant quickly interrupted, his tone urgent.
“We’ve also uncovered something… about Miss Adeline. It’s serious. I think you’d better come back to the mansion to see it for yourself.”
Brian froze in place. His heart pounding wildly as if it was bad news. After a brief hesitation, he gritted his teeth.”
“I’ll be there right away. Wait for me.“”
Half an hour later, Brian burst through the doors of his mansion. His assistant was already waiting in the living room, a tablet in hand.
Brian rushed forward and snatched it away, his voice tight and full of rage as he ordered his assistant, “Show me!“}
The assistant immediately opened a folder. Several recordings appeared on the screen. He tapped the first one and Adeline’s voice filled the room. It was soft and sweet on the surface, but sharp and cruel beneath.
“Tie Lilian up and take her to a warehouse outside the city. Don’t kill her, but make sure she suffers. Ideally … cut off one of her fingers so she’ll never compete with me for Brian again!”
“Later, when Brian asks, you’ll say Lilian staged it herself.”
When the recording ended, Brian’s face turned pale. His hand shook violently, the tablet almost slipping from his grip. However, his assistant then played another recording. This time, it was a conversation between Adeline and a prison guard. “As long as you make Lilian suffer inside, I’ll pay you whatever you want. I need her to understand what happens when she crosses me!”
The assistant himself sucked in a sharp breath. But he still pressed play on the next video. The footage was from inside the Wyatt Family’s living room. Adeline deliberately spilled water on herself, then fell to the floor, crying pitifully just as Brian rushed in.
“Brian! Lilian pushed me!” she sobbed.
But the camera angle changed, showing the truth. Adeline was the one who had grabbed Lilian’s hair first, even scratching her own arm with her nails to fake injuries. I had only pushed her away to protect herself.”
The footage continued to play. Scenes after scenes had exposed Adeline’s lies. For so long, she had been framing me, harassing me and twisting every situation to make me look guilty.@
Bang!
Brian slammed the tablet onto the coffee table. The glass cracked under the impact. His fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. His nails were digging into his palms. His whole body trembled with rage, while his face turned terrifyingly dark.
“Investigate! Dig up everything Adeline has done. Don’t leave out a single detail!”
The assistant didn’t dare delay. He quickly bowed his head and rushed out. Brian was left alone in the silent living room. Slowly, he sank onto the sofa, his chest heaving. Adeline’s tearful face kept flashing in his mind, along with her words. Those were the lies she had fed him again and again.
Adeline had said I pushed her down the stairs. She had said that I staged my own kidnapping. She had said I didn’t love him anymore.”
