He Loves Me Right, Finally novel Chapter 126

By the time the group finally made it to the mountaintop, more than two hours had passed.

Amias greeted everyone briefly before leaving on his own.

Gavin explained from the side, "Every time this kid comes up the mountain, he goes to see Abbot Benedict first. Don't worry about him. Let Adriel show you around instead. He knows this place pretty well too."

After climbing all the way up, Gavin was completely wiped out.

Right now, all he wanted was to get to Amias's room in the monastery, collapse onto a bed, and recharge for a while.

With that thought, Gavin said a few words to Adriel before slipping away.

Shirley spoke up as well. "I'm just gonna wander around for a bit. Mr. Gallagher, Ms. Jewell wants to pray and make a donation, so I'll leave her to you."

She planned to look around the monastery herself and quietly observe whether anyone nearby might be the Ammius-Crocus they were searching for.

Soon enough, after Shirley left, only Wynette and Adriel remained.

"Come on, I'll take you there." Adriel led the way first.

Wynette followed behind him.

After making a donation, Adriel brought Wynette toward the back of the monastery.

He led her beneath a thousand-year-old banyan tree in the rear courtyard, its branches covered with prayer ribbons filled with handwritten wishes.

The prayer ribbons swayed in the wind, and the wooden prayer plaques tied to them clicked softly together, creating a calm, almost meditative sound.

Standing beneath the tree, Wynette watched the rows of ribbons fluttering before her eyes.

Some prayed for successful careers, some for academic success, some for peace and health for their families, and plenty wished for love.

Just as Wynette absentmindedly grabbed a prayer ribbon and became completely absorbed in reading it, Adriel appeared in front of her, holding two brand-new ribbons. "Want one?"

Wynette glanced at the prayer ribbons in his hand and thought, Well, since we're already here anyway...

She smiled and reached out. "You already brought two. If I refuse, wouldn't that be kinda rude?"

Adriel led her to a stone table beneath the banyan tree.

Pens rested on top of it.

The rectangular table separated them as Wynette and Adriel stood on opposite sides.

Adriel had already picked up his pen.

He wrote with complete focus.

Wynette picked up her own pen and carefully wrote on the prayer ribbon, "May my family be blessed with health, safety, and peace in the years to come."

At the bottom, she signed her name.

By the time Wynette finished writing, Adriel had already finished his as well.

He walked over to her. "Wait here a second."

Then he turned and left.

A moment later, Adriel returned carrying a ladder.

After setting it up securely, he reached out toward Wynette. "I'll hang it up for you."

Hearing that, Wynette didn't refuse and handed him her prayer ribbon.

Adriel gripped the ribbon tightly and climbed the ladder one step at a time.

Wynette stood below, holding the ladder steady for him. As Adriel climbed higher and higher, she couldn't help getting nervous. "Adriel, that's enough. Stop climbing."

He was already ridiculously high up. She was afraid he'd fall if he lost his footing.

But Adriel kept climbing until he finally reached the highest spot. Holding onto the tree trunk, he tied his and Wynette's prayer ribbons together.

A soft breeze drifted through the branches as Adriel looked at Wynette's ribbon, then at his own.

Written across it were the words, "May I stay by Wynette's side for the rest of our lives, growing old together in love and without regrets."

Signed, Adriel.

Under Wynette's worried gaze, Adriel slowly climbed back down the ladder.

Only after seeing him land safely did Wynette finally relax completely.

Afterward, she accompanied Adriel to put the ladder back.
