He Loves Me Right, Finally novel Chapter 66

Chapter 66 Let’s Start Over

Facing this high–and–mighty family, Wynette remained still.

She knew that from the very beginning, neither Eve nor Payton had ever liked her.

Because of the Jewells‘ decline, the two of them had always felt Wynette was no longer worthy of the Shepherds.

They had mocked her, nitpicked at her, and had also caused plenty of trouble behind her back.

Wynette couldn’t be bothered with them. Occasionally, she would snap back, but all she got in return was Noah’s impatience.

Later, she just started visiting less often.

Now, looking at Eve and Payton’s arrogant expressions, Wynette had no intention of dealing with them.

She just coldly withdrew her gaze and turned to leave.

No matter what the Shepherds came here for today, it definitely wasn’t anything good.

“Wynette.”

At that moment, Noah, who had been silent the entire time, finally reacted.

His

gaze locked tightly onto her. “Can you stop being so extreme and just talk this through properly?”

In Noah’s impression, Wynette rarely acted this unyieldingly.

He had also seen that file.

It could be said that quite a few people in Scenaville had seen it.

If he hadn’t read it word by word himself, he wouldn’t have realized just how many excessive things he had done to Wynette.

Regret filled Noah’s heart.

Especially after Lorelei’s provocative words were exposed, he had gone to confront her immediately.

Lorelei cried and said she was just too jealous that Wynette could have his love.

Taking that opportunity, she confessed to Noah, saying she still couldn’t forget him and wanted to start over with him.

When Lorelei returned, Noah had indeed had that thought, but it was only ever a passing thought.

He had never intended to get back together with Lorelei.

In truth, Noah knew better than anyone that a woman like Lorelei was fine to flirt or play around with occasionally.

But when it came to marriage, Wynette was the best choice.

No matter what, her family background and capabilities were above Lorelei’s.

Noah understood the priorities clearly.

The reason he cared so much about Lorelei was partly that he enjoyed how much she depended on him.

He had to admit he liked her fragile, innocent demeanor. It stirred his protective instincts and also gave him a sense of pride.

Noah had been certain of Wynette’s feelings for him, especially combined with the Shepherds‘ help toward the Jewells.

He had simply relied on her favoritism and taken her feelings for granted.

Now facing Wynette, Noah’s thoughts churned endlessly.

He only knew he didn’t want to break up with her.

This time, he came to Kaylee because he wanted his family to come forward with a formal proposal.

He had already planned everything. As long as the Jewells agreed, he would take Wynette to City Hall tomorrow morning to register their marriage.

He definitely wouldn’t let her down again this time.

Wynette looked at the man whose face still carried injuries, utterly speechless. “There’s nothing for us to talk about. I already made everything clear before.”

“What’s with that attitude?!” Payton interrupted Wynette, then said irritably to Noah, “After all this, you still insist on coming to propose? I think you’ve lost your mind!”

She was furious.

A proposal?!

Wynette cut her off. “I just realized something. You guys are really interesting. It’s one thing that Noah doesn’t understand plain language, but none of you understand it either?

“My family may not be what it used to be, but how noble do you think your family is? Back when your family ran into trouble and came begging our family for help, why didn’t you say we weren’t worthy then?”

Their disgusting, ugly faces only made Wynette feel sick to her stomach.

Right in front of them, she mercilessly tore apart the façade they had tried so hard to maintain.

Ignoring their darkened expressions, she continued mocking them, “The only reason your family has the status it does today is that you stepped on my family while we were down. Do you really think you’re that capable?

“Even if your family is powerful and has a throne to inherit, it has nothing to do with me. Stop showing off your ridiculous sense of superiority in front of me. I’m not interested,” Wynette spoke very bluntly.

With each and every sarcastic remark she made, the Shepherds‘ expressions grew more and more strained.

Especially Eve and Payton–their faces looked as if they had swallowed something disgusting.

Noah was also angered by Wynette’s words, but he still suppressed it and said, “I didn’t know Lorelei was provoking you like that behind your back. There’s really nothing between us. A lot of those photos were candid shots she took.

“Wynette, if you don’t like me having too much contact with Lorelei, I promise you that I won’t have anything to do with her anymore. I won’t care whether she lives or dies. Let’s start over.”

He looked at Wynette with deep affection as he made his promise.

But in her eyes, it all seemed incredibly ridiculous.

See? He knew that getting close to Lorelei would hurt her, yet he still did it.

It wasn’t that he didn’t know. He just didn’t care.
