He Loves Me Right, Finally novel Chapter 8

Chapter 8 I Won’t Let Jewell Group Fall

Besides the company, Wynette and Noah also owned a game studio together.

For now, the studio hadn’t been affected.

Listening to her assistant’s report, Wynette fell into thought.

She had already considered it. If things kept going this way, it was only a matter of time before the studio was split apart too.

Before that happened, she had to decide what to do.

Keep it going, or give it up. Wynette had to make a choice.

In truth, she already had an answer.

After calming herself down, Wynette drove to the treatment center.

Ever since Ryker suffered a stroke that left him half paralyzed, he had been recovering there.

When Wynette arrived, a caregiver had pushed him outside for some fresh air and sunlight.

She waited in the room.

About ten minutes later, the caregiver wheeled Ryker back in.

The caregiver smiled at Wynette. “Ms. Jewell, you’re here. I just took Mr. Jewell to the garden for some sun. He’s in a pretty good mood today.”

Ryker’s stroke had been caused by extreme stress. Luckily, it was only partial paralysis.

At first, he couldn’t even get out of bed, and his speech was slurred.

But he had been working hard in rehab. Now he could walk a short distance with a cane, and his speech was much clearer than before, though still slow.

Wynette helped the caregiver move him back onto the bed.

She smiled. “I brought some fruit for everyone. Could you help pass it out?”

“Thank you, Ms. Jewell. I’ll step out now. Just ring the bell if you need anything,” the caregiver said.

The caregiver was used to it by now. Every time Wynette came, she brought fruit or snacks. After a while, no one bothered refusing anymore.

Before leaving, the caregiver gently closed the door.

Wynette sat beside the bed and began pressing Ryker’s legs to help his blood circulation.

She was thinking about how to tell him that the Jewells and the Shepherds would soon cut all ties.

Something this big couldn’t be hidden from him.

And she never planned to hide it anyway.

Ryker looked at her and sighed. “Wynette… unhappy?”

His words came out slowly, but his eyes were full of concern.

She was his daughter. Of course he could sense her mood right away.

Even if she said nothing, he already knew. It had to be because of Noah again.

Thinking of Noah’s behavior before, Ryker held her hand and gently patted it. “Because… because of… Noah again?”

He saw right through her.

Wynette met Ryker’s worried gaze and gave a small smile. “Dad, how have you been lately?”

“Good. Don’t worry,” Ryker answered honestly.

Only then did Wynette relax a little.

After a moment of thought, she continued, “Dad, Noah and I broke up. I want to completely separate the business between our families. What do you think?”

As she spoke, Wynette carefully watched his expression.

She hadn’t forgotten the doctor’s warning. Ryker couldn’t handle too much stress.

His reaction was calmer than she expected.

And that only made her more worried.

Seeing his blank expression, Wynette thought he was angry about her decision. She was about to press the call button for the caregiver when Ryker suddenly tightened his grip on her hand.

He looked at her and sighed. “Wynette… my dear… these past few years… you’ve been through a lot.”

His voice choked.

How could he not see the sacrifices she made for the company?

Right now, all he felt was heartache.

Wynette shook her head. “It’s not. I just don’t want to keep going like this. Dad, Noah isn’t the right man for me. I know this decision is selfish. I’m sorry. I’m being willful.”

All the emotions she had been holding back finally broke through in front of Ryker.

Her eyes turned red. Tears gathered, but she stubbornly refused to let them fall in front of him.

Seeing that only made Ryker’s heart ache even more.

His hands trembled as he wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes. “Wynette, you’re… a good girl. Not willful. If you don’t want to… then don’t. Don’t keep holding on.”

As he spoke, he leaned forward and gently hugged her, patting her back.

The one who should apologize is him.

If it weren’t for his mistakes, the Jewell Group wouldn’t be in this situation. The daughter he cherished wouldn’t have to swallow her pride and lower her head in front of the Shepherds for the company.

Ryker felt heartbroken for Wynette-and even more hatred for his own past decisions.

Hearing his words, Wynette quietly sobbed in his arms.

She knew that no matter what choice she made, Ryker would always support her.

That was exactly why she rarely showed her vulnerable side in front of him unless she had no other choice.

Listening to her suppressed crying, Ryker felt terrible.

He comforted her silently.

After her emotions settled, Wynette slowly pulled away from his arms.

“Dad, don’t worry. Even without the Shepherds’s support, I won’t let Jewell Group fall. I’ll do everything I can to keep it going.”

Given the company’s current situation, even she didn’t know how far she could go.

But she would never give up like this.

Ryker patted her shoulder. “Don’t… don’t give yourself so much pressure… I believe in you.”

Then he smiled gently at her. “I support… you. Wynette, you are very… capable. You can do it.”
