He Loves Me Right, Finally novel Chapter 82

Chapter 82 You Take Responsibility

Wynette grabbed for Adriel on instinct.

Adriel lunged for her at the same moment.

Their combined momentum crashed together all at once.

Adriel was stronger, and Wynette had no choice but to let his body come down over hers.

She squeezed her eyes shut. This is it. This genuinely is it.

With a frame like his, he was going to flatten her completely.

She braced herself with the quiet, resigned courage of someone accepting their fate.

Adriel saw the problem at the same moment she did.

He shot his arm out, pulled Wynette into his chest, and twisted them both mid–fall.

In one single instant, the positions reversed. Wynette landed in Adriel’s arms, and Adriel hit the ground beneath her like a human cushion.

The impact she’d been dreading never came. Wynette’s lashes trembled, and she opened her eyes with slow, cautious disbelief.

Her palm registered something warm and soft beneath it.

Before she’d even processed that she was touching Adriel’s chest, she’d already squeezed it twice on pure

reflex.

A muffled sound came from beneath her.

That was when it hit her.

Wynette pushed herself upright and scrambled to get off him, her words tumbling out in a rush. “I’m sorry, did I hurt you? I’m getting up right now.”

But one of her feet was pinned under him.

The moment she got herself halfway up, her trapped foot yanked her straight back down into his chest.

She tried to get up again and again, and failed every single time.

If anything, she just kept throwing herself back down against him.

Her face burned a mortified red, and the more she panicked, the more impossible it became to move.

“Stop moving.” Adriel’s arm came around her waist without warning, and he stilled her completely.

With that single motion, Wynette’s cheek came to rest against his chest.

She blinked once. Then her eyes went wide, and she froze entirely, plastered against him without daring to breathe.

He

He…

Her face, already flushed a vivid scarlet, blazed even hotter now, and her expression was one of absolute, stunned disbelief.

She could feel it. The very obvious, very unmistakable shift in the man beneath her, pressed right against her stomach.

Adriel was, for once in his life, flushed.

Not that he could help it.

The person he wanted was right there in his arms, and she’d been tumbling into him over and over. He wasn’t a saint. He’d never claimed to be.

His body went rigid, his breath came out hot, and he worked to bring himself back under control with quiet, grinding effort.

Wynette kept her face crimson and her fingers curled into fists around his shirt, completely and utterly motionless.

She was terrified that a single wrong move would make things worse for him.

After a long stretch of tense silence, Adriel finally spoke, his voice rough and low. “Slide your foot out first.”

That was when Wynette finally understood the actual problem.

She tried to pull her foot free in a hurry, and in doing so, she accidentally brushed exactly the wrong place.

Cold sweat broke out along Adriel’s brow, and the strain inside him became nearly unbearable.

All he could do was silently beg for Wynette to get up faster. The last thing he wanted was to frighten her.

If he scared off the woman he’d worked so hard to get close to over something like this, it’d be a loss he couldn’t recover from.

Wynette felt his entire body go rigid the second she moved her foot.

Startled, she lifted her head to check on him.

ppp.

This man and his ridiculously thick hair. She was fighting the urge to grab a fistful of it just to see what it felt like.
