Sebastian's expression darkened into pure malice. He roughly shook off her hand and strode toward the villa.
Unable to withstand his sheer force, Helena lost her balance and crashed hard against the concrete floor.
She didn't try to get up.
His footsteps faltered for a fraction of a second.
He turned back to look at her.
For a fleeting moment, she thought he might actually show some mercy.
Instead, the cruelest words she had ever heard spilled from his lips. "I told you to drop the act. If you want your mother's apartment, you're going to drag yourself back into this house and stay put. You do not leave this estate without my permission. And you are never to mention the word 'divorce' again."
He delivered the ultimatum like he was granting her a royal pardon.
He was chaining her back to this golden cage, stripping away every ounce of her freedom.
Helena closed her eyes in defeat. "We had a deal."
Her words made him snap his head back to her. "You're in a hell of a rush to finalize this divorce. Are you hiding another man on the side? Because if I find out you're making a fool out of me, I will destroy you."
Every word was a lethal threat.
Even now, his ego refused to accept that she was the one trying to walk away.
She had spent seven years firmly under his thumb. This sudden rebellion was unacceptable.
He was frantic to reassert his total dominance.
"I'm not," Helena fired back, truly feeling he was out of his mind. "I just..."
"Then get inside," he commanded, entirely inflexible. "Otherwise, I'll have the bulldozers tear down your mother's place tonight."
It was a blatant threat. To prove his point, he pulled out his phone and dialed a number right in front of her.
"The apartment on North Hill Road. Tear it down tonight—"
Before he could finish the sentence, Helena lunged up and snatched the phone from his grip.
"You psychotic bastard!" she screamed, her chest heaving with rage.
He didn't say a word, but his eyes flared with a chilling warning.
She looked so pathetic that anyone—man or woman—would feel a protective urge to comfort her.
"I didn't realize Helena would be here," she sighed, casting her eyes downward. "It makes sense, I suppose. You two still need to talk things through. I really shouldn't have just showed up like this."
Every single word hit its mark perfectly.
Every syllable practically screamed about how neglected and heartbroken she felt.
Her micro-expressions were Oscar-worthy.
Helena stared at her, thoroughly disgusted by the blatant hypocrisy.
Janetta knew exactly what she was doing. She had intentionally crashed the estate tonight.
She was terrified her guaranteed spot as the next Mrs. Hayes was slipping through her fingers.
She was terrified Helena would change her mind and call off the divorce.
Paranoid and insecure, she had come to stake her claim.
