He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 62

Carter knew instantly that he was asking about Helena.

He didn't dare hesitate. "I have confirmed that no visa agency in Riverton will accept Mrs. Hayes's application documents. I also confirmed that she is aware of the situation."

Carter shifted awkwardly as he spoke, fully aware that Helena hadn't come crawling back like they expected.

"Perhaps Mrs. Hayes hasn't given up yet and is still looking for alternative routes. Once she realizes she's out of options, she will definitely come back and beg for your help," Carter offered carefully.

Sebastian's expression turned even stormier. Helena had completely slipped out of his grasp.

Just then, his phone buzzed on the desk. The caller ID flashed Beau Sterling's name.

Sebastian picked it up with a dark expression, and Carter immediately took the cue to quietly exit the room.

Beau was Sebastian's childhood friend and business partner, so a call from him wasn't unusual. But the words that came out of Beau's mouth made the color drain from Sebastian's face.

"What did you just say?" Sebastian asked, his voice dropping to a dangerous register.

"I said, Helena is pregnant," Beau repeated casually.

"How do you know that?" Sebastian furrowed his brow.

He hadn't breathed a word of this to anyone. Not even Grace knew. And Beau wasn't the type to pry into people's personal lives.

The situation felt increasingly bizarre, but Sebastian didn't give Beau a chance to explain. "Why are you bringing this up out of nowhere? She was pregnant, but she already miscarried."

He delivered the lie with a deadpan tone.

"Yes." The Doctor didn't dare lie.

"What is her situation now?" Sebastian demanded.

"Mrs. Hayes is doing quite well, but I must advise avoiding intimacy during the first trimester to prevent stressing the embryo, as it's still quite fragile," the doctor recited in a professional, by-the-book manner.

That confirmed it. Helena hadn't miscarried at all.

A violent anger flared in Sebastian's eyes, yet he maintained a chillingly calm facade. "Then why did I see her holding a post-abortion check-up report the other day?"

"Oh, Mrs. Hayes picked up the wrong paperwork. Her actual file is still here at the hospital," the doctor quickly explained. "There must have been another patient with the exact same name, and Mrs. Hayes simply grabbed it without checking. The other patient was indeed coming in for a post-abortion ultrasound. Mrs. Hayes was also here for an ultrasound, but certainly not for a miscarriage."

The doctor laid out the facts in meticulous detail.
